  1. As a community that is mainly DAS based as opposed to any other platform I think it would be awesome if we were to be able to band together to get the most of requests from DAS. IBKR has this with TWS as well as Sierra and Tradingview etc... I have heard from many mod and community members alike that we all ask for features or bug fix requests and feel that strength in numbers as shown by polls or comments and support; could help expedite the solutions. I was recently listening to Andrews webinar on his trading station where he mentions he's asked for an indicator to show strength of up ticks or the like as well as Thor mentioning bug fixes for Cam points and other issues which will most likely get fixed in latest update. Some simple requests I have been asking for, for years. DAS is great in somethings and absolutely horrid in others. Feel free to add your request to this thread and if enough people show interest we can send it to DAS. @Thor @Andrew Aziz @Mike B @Carlos M. @JaradBBT @KyleK29 @Norm @PeterD @Bryan

Personal feature requests I'd like to kickstart on

-(<1min) charts. We pay for tick data from exchange so why can't we have it like any other platform...

-Customizable tool bar time frames. For example the ability to add 10 min charts and take away 30min charts

-Finer zoom in scroll wheel. On the two finest zoom in points its either too 'zoomed in' or 'too zoomed out' with no in between.

-Notification of new updates in DAS instead of us needing to periodically choose auto update to see if theres a new update

-Phone app UI/UX updates. Its unusable. Nothing more needs to be said on this.

-Allow for Send to back/Send to back without just 'always on top' which is on top even with other apps on your PC.

-Montage allow for grouping of MM's/ECN's for one price level for one aggregate number of shares for each price level

-Montage ladder view but with lots... (Can't believe this isn't a thing)

-Allow for test stocks like ZVZZT

    -Market profile charts (TPO)

    Hi Gang!

New YEG'r here! Did you guys start a whatsapp group or some way to chat with the local BBT members? New to BBT but been dabbling here and there when I got a chance. Looking forward to getting to know some people in the group.

    Happy new year!

Hmm, I didn't realize people actually used the DAS recorder .. if I do another version, I'll exclude those.

That's an intentional thing from DAS. They don't let you have multiple user sessions on the server side (for various reasons). Same thing will happen if you log in to the PC and then also on your phone, your PC session will be terminated.

Any way you can remove the screen record pixel limit?

yeah exactly as you said its the send vs load

    So in stead of this: StopPrice=Price-0.01;DefShare=BP*0.97;Price=Ask-Price+0.03;SShare=10/Price;Share=DefShare-SShare;DefShare=DefShare+SShare;SShare=Share;Sshare=DefShare-SShare;Share=0.5*SShare;TogSShare;ROUTE=LIMIT;Price= Ask+0.05;TIF=DAY+;BUY=Send;DefShare=100;TriggerOrder=RT:STOP STOPTYPE:MARKET PX:StopPrice-0.3 ACT:SELL STOPPRICE:StopPrice QTY:Pos TIF:DAY+;                             ^^^^^

    I would have this as the only difference?: StopPrice=Price-0.01;DefShare=BP*0.97;Price=Ask-Price+0.03;SShare=10/Price;Share=DefShare-SShare;DefShare=DefShare+SShare;SShare=Share;Sshare=DefShare-SShare;Share=0.5*SShare;TogSShare;ROUTE=LIMIT;Price= Ask+0.05;TIF=DAY+;BUY=Load;DefShare=100;TriggerOrder=RT:STOP STOPTYPE:MARKET PX:StopPrice-0.3 ACT:SELL STOPPRICE:StopPrice QTY:Pos TIF:DAY+;                               ^^^^

  5. Hey @KyleK29 and everyone else I was just wondering if it is possible to make a hotkey fixed risk long button where it just loads the hot key into the montage but does not actually send to market. I looked over the Excel spreadsheet and do not see a modifier drop down option but I do however see in the script where near the end it does say: buy=send. Is there a way to get it to not send? Also when you use DAS' hotkey script builder there is an option for 'mode' drop down for "load and send" or just "load" so that might be what I’m after. Thx

Basically in very certain circumstances im trying to get DAS to just show me when I 2x click on the chart where my SL would be how many shares Id be using in the montage in the little green message log but not actually send the order to the market. Thx.

  6. @KyleK29 Ive asked DAS and they obvs told me to ask you. I only use your Hkey to trade. Is there any way to get the hotkey to just tell me how many shares it would take based on the distance to SL from where I clicked but not actually send the order to market.

What I'm trying to achieve and why: Sometimes a stock wants to break up through an important level lets say $50. But by the time I hit the Hkey its already at $50.20. So I want to just use the hotkey in these rare instances to show me how many shares it'd execute if I pre-empted the trade at like $49.99 and then just manually type the trade into the montage with a limit order so I don't get skipped.

Also, the script has the TIF as Day+ but I want to make it just DAY. I need to do that in my order routing template and change all instances of TIF in the script to DAY as well right? And will this work or screw it up?

    Thx

  8. Recently downloaded and am going through the process of starting to use Sierra charts. With this comes the massive learning curve. I did this for one reason and one only. SUB ONE MINUTE CHARTS. They get the tick feeds, so I don't get why they cant pass it onto us. Especially with their ever lauded Nasdaq co-location.

This should be beyond capable for them. I need this data for how I want to trade. Yes I know to most even 1min charts are noise.

If the power of this community can help William implement new hotkeys, I'm fairly certain we can get this done.

    All,

Trying to 'anchor' a watch list with an auxiliary 'pop-out' chart that I use to monitor ETFs and major market indicators, such as QQQ or SPY. Can this be done with out having a montage for that chart?

    image.thumb.png.4b2076a6fa5caab8928a801aaf1864d5.png

What you can do is hide the montage behind the watchlist by making the watchlist “always on top”

    Hi BBT fam!

i am currently using my high-spec gaming desktop for day trading, however my display card only have 3 ports for display( 2 hdmi and 1 display port). I am planning to upgrade my trading station from 2 monitors to 3 monitors, but I am not planning to buy another pc or another display card.... when I go through BBT’s hardware page I saw the dell universal dock and I notice that it will work even for desktops! Anyone try that before, is it good enough? Are there any latency problem? is it good enough to have a d3000 rather than a d6000?

sorry for all those questions, really appreciate any help in advance

    Edwin

I have the oldest POS integrated graphics only desktop. and I am running 4 screens. (go through my post history and youll find pics). Just get a USB 3.0 to HDMI dual splitter adapter. Works fine for me. I only have 2 DP ports on my computer. Thats how I get 4 screens. 2 DP and 2 HDMI.

Just before entering a trade, mostly I look for good volume (not dying), price breaking up / down important levels with volume, clean price action, not choppy, looking for patterns / setups.  I wait for pullbacks to moving averages / important levels to fine tune my entry, I look for a reasonable stop loss at a technical level and potential targets (for final target and partials) with good risk : reward.

Awesome thanks for the response Abiel

  12. Part of my studies leads me to many other sources for information on the markets. On YT I found a day trader that talks about novice VS professional gaps. Premise here being most gaps are pro until you see them being proven as novice or gaps that dumb money would make. The ending day on a parabolic run up like on TSLA the last day it ran to 980.

Lets say 5 min before the daily candle closes and prints you see that this will close the day as a insane novice gap and you want to short it for the next day. I'm sure option premiums would be high at that point as they were with TSLA period but wouldn't it being pretty easy to buy puts and sell at open? Or would the premium or some other factor im not thinking about dis allow this strategy from working? I haven't looked into the idea that much. Just got to thinking after TSLA did its thing without me.

  13. Usually we use some sort of old level of price action that acted as S/R in the past. With us being in the greatest fed induced bubble of all time and new highs being made every day how are we supposed to choose levels to take profits. The best I can come up with it fibonacci levels and 1/2,full dollar amts. Sad thing is that I already use my fibs as a gage used to outlined where my 2:1,3:1,... scale out levels would be based on my stop loss as Kyle K mentioned.

Hi guys, I’m looking for a desktop for daytrading. What do you recommend? I’m trying to keep the costs down as much as possible. I’ve found a desktop shown on the photo below, should it be sufficient? Also how many monitors do you need as a minimum?

    E2956429-31DF-41A2-9886-3AB4D6E15E72.jpeg

That 8 gigs is never enough. Not to say you can’t add more. But when you start adding chrome tabs for finviz/bbt/squawk... and maybe OBS to record. You need 16 min

I don't remember exactly how to do it since its been a while, but I think you have to move the advanced scene switcher file that you downloaded into the plug-ins folder of the OBS folder.  Something like that.  Also I remember it saying something about needing to remove the original scene switcher that comes with OBS, but i couldn't find that file so I never did and it worked fine.  Maybe newer updates got rid of that file?

    EDIT:

Here's the instructions on the download page.  Like I said, mine didn't have the other scene swithcer file that it says to remove, but other than that these are the instructions that I basically followed.

    Installation Windows:

    1. Extract the folder
    2. Open the Windows folder
    3. Copy the advanced-scene-switcher.dll in the OBS Stdio plugin folder. (For example C:\Program Files (x86)\obs-studio\obs-plugins\32bit or C:\Program Files\obs-studio\bin\64bit - this path can be different for you!)
    4. Install the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017
      x86: vc_redist.x86.exe
      x64: vc_redist.x64.exe
      (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads)
    5. Make sure to remove any previous versions of the plugin (called SceneSwitcher.dll)
    6. Configure the settings (see later section)

    Installation MacOS:

    1. Extract the folder
    2. Open the MacOS folder
    3. Rigth click the OBS application and choose "Show Package Contents".
    4. Copy the advanced-scene-switcher.so file to Contents/Resources/obs-plugins.
    5. Make sure to remove any previous versions of the plugin (called SceneSwitcher.so)
    6. Configure the settings (see next section)

    Installation Linux:

    1. Extract the folder
    2. Open the Linux folder
    3. Copy the advanced-scene-switcher.so file into the OBS Studio plugin folder (usually /usr/lib/obs-plugins/).
    4. Configure the settings (see next section)
    Spoiler: Settings (outdated)

    Additional Information and Notes:

Don't run both, the built in scene switcher and the advanced scene switcher. Otherwise both will try to switch based on their settings and cause many unnecessary scene switches.

Any chance you could send/link a video of what it looks like when its working? I cant get it to work. I even did what the video showed me. And downloaded the other C++ file. It just wont auto switch for the screen Im in and only record that. Thx

I read One Good Trade by Mike Bellafiore and in it he mentions that they record their trades so that they can go back and review them after.  That sounded like a cool idea so I started looking into how I could do that myself.  I found a way to do it for free which was a plus and thought I'd share it with the community to hopefully helps others as well if they want to do it.  Basically what I do now is I record my screens while I'm trading and then I go back after and watch what happened during my trade when I'm doing my journal and/or also on the weekends for review.  This lets me see what I did right/wrong, see stuff I might have missed, see where I could've added to my position, or scaled out better, etc.  Essentially I'm able to go back and review my trade and see exactly what happened in real time.  Kind of like a like a professional athlete watching game film haha.  Like I said, everything I'm using is free so it won't cost you anything if you want to do it as well.

The software I use to record the screen is OBS (free), which I'm sure most of the people that have been in this group for a while have heard of by now.  The problem that I then had though was that I have 6 screens, but I could only get OBS to record my main screen.  The solution that I found was that you then need to download a plugin for it called Advanced Scene Switcher (also free).  I'll include a link for it below.   Once you get that setup it records whichever screen that your mouse is in.  I only take one trade at a time so for me I just keep my mouse in that screen while I'm in a trade.  If I then go to trade from a montage/setup in a different screen it automatically switches the recording to that screen as long as my mouse is in that screen.  Obviously wouldn't be ideal if you were trading multiple positions on different screens, but for me with my one trade at a time it works.   I found a video that helps explain how to set up each screen for the Advanced Scene Switcher that I'll also include below.

So I start the recording at the open and then stop the recording when I'm done for the day which makes it one long video.  I then use Avidemux for the video editing (again, free).  Its a pretty basic video editing software so I'm sure there's better stuff out there, but I just use it to edit the video down to each individual trade and save each trade as a separate video so I don't need anything special.  That way when I'm doing my journal, or on the weekends, etc,  I can find/review a particular trade as opposed to going through a long video of all my trades for the day.

Anyways, I hope this helps some people if they were curious about doing something like this.  If you have any questions or need any help feel free to ask.
