Interactive Brokers Commission Structures and Regulatory Fees
Jason W replied to Uncle B's topic in Day Trading Brokers
Here. Lee helped me a year ago about the same question. Thanks again boo -
I notice the chart would draw 200 moving average differently on 1 minute chart depends on your data configuration. As far as I understand it The difference comes from that if we use 1 day minute chart, there will not be 200 bars before market opens. So the 200 moving average on 1 minute chart is only the average of first 150 bars. (Since pre-market opens at 7am) But if we data configure to more that 1 day minute chart, it will have enough 200 bars (150 today since 7am +50 from yesterday) This differences will go away on 10:20am after 50 minutes of action. But Since 200 moving average is such a huge level, which configuration do we choose at the open ?

they have sales very often ... wait for the 25% off -
if you missed this, use NEWSAVINGS15 to get 15% off. But I remember they had another sale at valentines day last year.

Hey Kyle: I tested it out. This seems to be the configuration that works best for IB short. Shorting with 1% account risk with AUTO size based on selected stop price DefShare=BP*0.8; Share=DefShare*0.3* Price * 0.01; Price = Price - Bid + 0.02;SShare = Share / Price; Share = DefShare - SShare; DefShare = DefShare + SShare; SShare = Share; SShare = DefShare - SShare; Share = 0.5 * SShare; TogSShare; ROUTE =LIMIT; Price = Bid - 0.05; TIF=DAY+; SELL=Send; DefShare = 500; IB requires 30% equity as margin for short, and 25% equity as margin for long. Therefore, the discount on BP should be 0.25/0.3= 0.833333, so I just used 0.8 to be safe. For the same reason, I used 0.3 instead of 0.333333333333333. I just want to say Thank you again for figuring this out. Smart people like you are hard to find. If you ever need help with anything, pm me and let me know. BTW I just finished set up the new Genovation 48 key control pad. I highly recommend it. It's nicer than the 24.

I'm not even sure if DAS knows the difference. Because DAS does not separate long BP and short BP If DAS does not know the difference, then the value should still be 0.25 right ? If DAS knows the difference, then 0.3 is fine. There is no way to test this in the SIM, SIM has the same buying and shorting power I think. So I'm gonna have to take one for the team ..... Thanks again Kyle.

Yo IB requires 25% for margin so it 4:1 on long, but 30% for margin on short, so that's 3.33333:1 on short ? So if we gonna do a short script with 1% risk , is this the correct script ? DefShare=BP*0.98; Share=DefShare*0.333333333333333* Price * 0.01; Price = Price - Bid + 0.02;SShare = Share / Price; Share = DefShare - SShare; DefShare = DefShare + SShare; SShare = Share; SShare = DefShare - SShare; Share = 0.5 * SShare; TogSShare; ROUTE =LIMIT; Price = Bid - 0.05; TIF=DAY+; SELL=Send; DefShare = 500; or is it Share=DefShare*0.3* Price * 0.01 ? Thanks again man !!

Genovation ControlPad CP24 USB HID
Jason W replied to Abiel's topic in Day Trading Hardware, Software and Tools
Sorry bud I just saw this notification today. Hope this reply is not too late. I use two fast key pad. I have a Razor one for buy and sell. it's programmed as +100 + 200 +500 +1000 +2000 shares, and -1/10 position, - 1/5 position , -1/3 , -1/2 and sell all. Then the opposites side of the trades. I use Genovation Control for setting stop loss -5c , -10c, -15c, -20c, all the way up to -50c. and the opposite side of the trades. This way I can get in a position and set a hard stop loss right the way. It's very useful when you manage multiple stocks. -
Lee you are a true legend of this community !!! Thank you guys so much !!! So now we can see that IB's fee is consistent. But some trades will have a third party fee. The question now is when do they occur ? and under what conditions you will be charged a third party fee ? I'm not even sure if its optimal to worry about fees when we trading. But those first two trades i made, I press the same hotkey twice, only 3 seconds apart. One trade has a huge third party charge, the other one has none.

While doing reviews for this week, I notice that my commission is a lot more than I expected. Here is a snap of my trades and commission on Friday. You can see the first 1000 shares i bought was charged $6.70 second 1000 shares was charged $3.70 third trade for 2000 shares was charged $13.14 !!! I'm not sure why the first trade was charged so much more than the second one. Those trades were made 3 seconds apart. The average commission on those trades are more like 0.006 per shares or $6 for 1000 shares rather than the 0.0035 like they advertised. I doubt interactive broker was over charging me particularly. And while the fine prints at the bottom did say its 0.0035+fees, I think this is still very misleading and I hope new traders are aware of this. Carlos if you see this post, can you tell us what's the actual commission on SpeedTrader ? It says $2.95 +fees. The question is how big are those fees ? At interactive brokers, those fees are almost double of what they advertised.
