Are there any plans for a “Going Live” workshop with Interactive Brokers / CMEG? Covering some items like: What to expect when transitioning to a live account DAS Platform changes to make Hotkey routing changes, etc. Notes on commissions and account types (Cash vs. Margin, Tiered vs. Fixed) Anything else relevant to what a new trader might need to know. I know there is already a video on commissions, but I was thinking of a more comprehensive video on the changes when switching over to a live account with IBKR/CMEG Maybe a Checklist of changes or summary to bring it all together for members transitioning to a live account from the SIM.

Hey James, I'm a little confused by your question, but I'll take a stab at it! Where you want to place your stop loss really depends on your strategy. For example, people who are scalping stocks, it may be nowhere near VWAP, Moving Average or a high/low of day. They have just witnessed a substantial pull back (expecting the stock to go back), they get in, and "arbitrarily" set their stop below the last 1-minute candle. I'm not saying what I wrote above is a good trading strategy, but it hopefully gives you an idea why people may put their stop loss at levels that aren't a specific technical level. And yes, for DAS, the hotkey looks something like this: If you were short in a position and wanted to place a stop loss above your entry, you would double click on the chart, and then hit the hotkey that would execute this script. ROUTE=STOP;StopType=Market;StopPrice=Price;Share=Pos;TIF=DAY+;BUY=SEND This is the long version: ROUTE=STOP;StopType=Market;StopPrice=Price;Share=Pos;TIF=DAY+;SELL=SEND

Hi Taylor, I know a long time back there was an issue with a Streamdeck going rogue and firing all the hotkeys, I thought they updated that in software, but I remember reading on the Elgato forums that some users had to RMA their devices (faulty) ... you may want to contact their support. I've used my StreamDeck going on 18 months and have never had this issue .. but I don't have predefined share totals, so it wouldn't be able to send a valid order in my case. Now, you can implement a few protection mechanisms within DAS. If you go into DAS Main Menu -> Setup -> Trading Settings, set these: X - Check duplicated new order (same order in 10 seconds) -> This prompts you if a duplicate order is sent rapidly. X - Price Check -> Choose values that make sense for you. This won't do much in this case if your hotkeys define a price. X = Checkmark You could also add a modifier key to your hot scripts that is not reflected in the StreamDeck. Example: You'd set a hotkey in DAS to SHIFT+CTRL+1, set the StreamDeck to send CTRL+1. With this setup, you'd have to hold down SHIFT on the keyboard while you hit a button on the StreamDeck. As an added measure, you could also add to your Hotkey scripts a '; FocusWindow CHART;' at the end of all your current hotkeys that can buy / sell stock. CHART would be a name you give a particular Chart or something like the Market Viewer, via the Right-Click Window -> Config -> Name). This way if you get a rapid firing of hotkeys in the future, only one will be able to actually fire off because the window focus would move to something else and the other buy / sell hotkeys would fail until you manually bring the focus back to the montage. When you go live, you should also set up your maximum loss with DAS (it's a form you file), that will minimize actual risk because they'll sell everything / reject orders if you hit that level. I do it like this (example values): -$60 PnL --> Alert --> Speak 'Max Loss Warning' (this signifies I have room for one more full R loss) -$90 PnL --> Alert --> Speak 'Max Loss STOP' (this tells me to stop trading) -$120 PnL --> DAS Risk Form --> Auto Stop / Reject I give an additional 1R buffer between the point I'm supposed to Stop (self discipline) and the point DAS will turn the account off for the day and liquidate positions, to account for the higher-than-my-account commissions DAS calculates in.

I'm looking for the same, something more personable with a group of 3-5 serious people like a college study group. Skype/Zoom video chats, trade studies, strategy discussions, and etc.

Hi folks, this is what I use on a daily basis as you see it. I open the chatroom on the right monitor and toggle back and forth in the pre-market. Once the market opens, I usually just listen to Andrew and stay focused on my two tickers I have set up on that right monitor. I have tried many configurations, but after several months have settled on this configuration and it has worked well for me. Left side monitor is for morning research and scanning. Watch list is there on the lower right of the left monitor. Center and right monitors each have 2 tickers for a total of 4 stocks on watch. For each ticker I have level II, time and sales, 5-min chart, 1-min chart and a daily chart. Below are the specifics of my equipment for anyone interested. Cheers and happy trading. HP Spectre x360 Convertible laptop Intel Core i7-6500 CPU @ 2.50GHz 16GB RAM 256GB SSD Windows 10 Home 3 HP Pavilion 32inch ultrawide LED QHD Monitors, resolution is 2560x1440 Connections are 2 DisplayPort (docking station) and 1 HDMI (via laptop port) Targus Docking Station for ethernet and the additional video connections Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard (I know how Andrew feels about these, but I have been using a wireless keyboard and mouse as long as they have existed. Never had a problem. I change the batteries religiously every quarter and get new equipment every few years.) Trust me when I say that any hotkey trading errors I have experienced were not the result of my equipment. Hardwired Ethernet connection to cable modem gets me 200+ Mbps download and 70+ Mbps upload speeds. Have cell phone app open when trading so can close trades in an emergency power or internet outage or a system crash…yes it’s happened! Hotkeys are setup via trading platform and accessed either with my external keyboard or Apple iPad mini. I use an app called “Custom Keypad”. It is $4.99 in the App Store. I connect the iPad mini to the laptop via a program called Tight VNC Server. Easy to set-up and use. The keypad app provides unlimited ability to create custom touch-screen buttons. I have used it since March 2018 and have never had an issue. That’s over 550 entries and exits for me. I’m satisfied it works.

Hey guys, This may sound like a stupid question (Im new to this, as you can probably tell) but why would you want to have a Stop Loss hotkey which doesn't set your stop at a technical level such as just above/below VWAP etc? Also, is there any way of setting up a Stop Loss hotkey that does this? Thanks!
