If you are going to use bookmap for U.S. Equities, you will need Dxfeed, as it provides data for Bookmap. Now for your actual bookmap subscription, there is Global and Global+ - If you want to trade with IB within Bookmap, then you need Global+. I trade inside of DAS, so I don't need it. Otherwise, the features of global+: Iceberg detector does not work with Dxfeed, I feel like large lot tracker is "meh"... and and the order book imbalance would be nice IF Dxfeed could supply the NYSE/ARCA book, but Dxfeed can't, which means any NYSE/ARCA orders are missing from Bookmap which there are a lot of which makes me think that an orderbook imbalance feature wouldn't be accurate anyway as a result. For the time being, I'm just using standard global on Bookmap - For equities, Global+ does not seem to be worth. it.

@tntp45 Hey man, I took a 5 min ORB today that worked out, thought you might dig it.

Back from our short adult vacation. SIM again, +2.4R for the day. chased NCLH at the open. should have waited for the pullback to enter, but I had FOMO once the price broke through the TinFoilHat line (green dashed line). This trade did not meet my Orb criteria. AMD, also did not meet my Orb criteria. This was a play with SPY selloff, since AMD had just failed to stay above PMH (red dotted line) and SPY tanked fast, I guessed AMD would follow. 5MinOrbUp on SAVE, don't remember if I chased this a bit or if it was just a bad fill. This met most of my 5Min criteria, but was not above 5Min MAs. MGM, HOD BO, not one of my current playbook trades. AZN, impulse trade. TSLA VWAP held as support. I guess this could be considered a 5MinOrbUp, with 1 min ABCD. but I was not looking at it as a 5MinOrb, I was just looking at VWAP bounce back up. TSLA, double top, when it failed I went ahead and exited before the original stop. Most of today's trades were not the setups I am supposed to be concentrating on and taking. But it felt good to be back to the markets after a few days off.

Hi Clay, There's a few common patterns that people spot and play... - Opening range breakout (1m,2m,5m etc.) Identifying the momentum of the direction and usually scalping on the 1m/2m ORBS - Fallen angel / rising devil As a beginner, it's a hard place to trade. I'd suggest watching and waiting for the pace to slow down until you're comfortable that you can (1) spot the pattern and (2) process a plan quickly (entry, exit, stop, share size etc). There's a fountain of videos in the education centre that talks to these strategies as well as steps to take when you start out.

Hi everyone! I've been a buy and hold investor for 30 years, and have been really interested in starting to become more of a trader as my time horizon for retirement gets shorter and I have some capital to trade with. I pretty much fit the mold that I live in the Andrew lays out in his book....I've made a little money trading, but I feel like it's more luck, and I didn't give it the respect it deserves. I'm a math guy and screens make sense to me, so I've been good at getting into positions, but I am horrible when it comes to taking profits as FOMO sets in. I never thought about the psychology in trading. I was so grateful to find this site and the books as they have really opened my eyes, and I can get on track before I really did something stupid! I live in the Jacksonville, FL area, and look forward to participating in the social aspect of the site! Thanks! Chuck
