I just read trading in the Zone and then viewed the videos that Carlos had mentioned when he covered for Andrew that day.... The one thing that stuck out on me was the idea that if you look at your curve and you have decent consistent green days and then you have a catastrophic loss day...you are struggling with not accepting the risk. Your rules are good but you, like me, can't accept the red day. The fact is that there will always be red days if we accept the risk. If we don't accept the risk...we will insist on going green at any cost and there is the disaster. I took a red day in the past two weeks and I did it because if I didn't accept it...it would upset my psyche for future trading. So far...so good. I am still learning as well.

Hey Jeremy, This is a viable strategy and I know quite a few people who do this. I myself have started day trading by scalping large positions for very small movements. However; in order to be successful, you need to time your entry perfectly- every cent will make a difference in your P&L. You will need to watch price movement on a market for at least 5 minutes before entry keeping careful watch of the chart, volume, the tape, and level 2. Once you are certain the stock is in play, volume is strong, and the price is either oscillating in a range or moving in an upward trend, you should enter on the lower end of the range. If the 1 minute chart shows a bullish trend with candles making higher highs and higher lows, you want to enter at the around lower wick of the previous candle, and likely, sell within the same candle around the upper body of the previous candle as you do not want to wait around and risk your candle making a higher low and for the price to dip or flush. This is a very tough strategy to trade, however, if you master reading the tape and Level 2, you will be able to select entries on stocks that will produce a near instantaneous profit, but you also will have to cut your losses the very moment the trade goes against you. The most successful scalpers I know have insanely high win rates of 90%+, and they don’t let the losers stick around for long. The commission ratio (at least on IBKR) will also be quite high as you will be trading a larger number of shares for a lower %. The reason why I stopped scalping in favor of trading reversals off support/resistance is because it was taking much longer to meet my profit goals and on some days my commission would cut into 50%+ of my P&L.

I have the same problem and have a couple suggestions to help with it. I keep TOS open with just my monitor and a chart with trade ladder open. I enable sound so when a trade executes in DAS I get the sound from TOS which tells me the order filled. Whenever an order fills I look at the order window in DAS. If it is still showing an order just right click on the order and click refresh to clear the order from DAS. For stop loss quantity issue. I've gotten in the habit of checking the quantity in the order window. I use Thor's fixed risk hotkey so as soon as I enter a trade I look at my position to see how many shares I have then confirm it's the same for my stop in the order window. Usually I'm good here. My problems usually start when I take a partial. I click the partial button then stop to break even. If I do this too quickly it uses the original amount of shares I had before the partial for the stop and TOS rejects the order when it tries to fill. I try to wait a few seconds after a partial before setting my b/e stop and that usually works fine. Again I'm trying to get in the habit of always checking the quantity of my position and make sure it matches my stop. I also keep my finger on the all out hot key in case there's an issue. If you are having intermittent issues with hotkeys/buttons, make sure you are not using smart routes. I copied the hotkey scripts from Thor, but you have to change all the routes to market or limit. The smart route will work sometimes, but not always (I'm not sure why they work at all). Personally, I have stopped trading the open for the most part. If I do it's small size. During the trading day I'm working on only taking A setups and staying in my trades longer (trying to learn from Thor. I want dollars not dimes). I find the issues with DAS/TD have made me pay more attention and take fewer poor trades. It's not ideal, but you can make it work if it fits your trading style. My advice is don't use DAS TD if you are an open trader or scalper.
