Strategy and latency

Hi,

I am just getting into day trading and I live in Australia, I realise I'm going to have a ping of 200-300 at least. Quick question, does latency play a factor in what strategy makes sense for me? Should I avoid ORBs for instance? Any advice would be appreciated as I would prefer to know before I waste any time trying to learn something only to find out later that this creates a problem. Thanks.
