Ranger order type comes in when trying to partial sell/cover

Hey All,

I'm just wondering why a range order type thing is coming up when i am trying to take a partial selling or covering? This only happens sometimes and when it doesn't i get very flustered as its where i usually want to take that partial and then have lost a fair bit of my profits when it does happen!

@Justin Hey Justin i took them directly from the chat room for Thor's setup but below here ill put the cover and sell and this happens on either the 1/4, 1/2 and sell all.

Did you have a "9" in the shares field in the montage prior to selecting this hotkey?

When you manually enter a share count in the montage DAS can be weird with hotkeys sometimes... I always make sure to hit that "TMP" button in the montage, which resets all their fields to their default state before using hotkeys.

@sawtooth500 No i haven't been typing anything in as that just get auto calculated from the Hotkey button.  I haven't tried hitting the TMP button i always click in the montage to make sure no hotkey errors but ill try that also tomorrow. Maybe ill try reply and see if i can recreate this also to then video!

Tried a couple more things out today and of course it happened again what i found i had to do was make sure i had no stop order in and then hit the TMP button as Saw suggested and then i was able to get partials out. 

Would this be because i am just using a demo simulator account? And these hot keys are from Thor's desktop on live and with IB?

I use my own custom hot keys so I'm not sure about Thor's. But the way that hot keys behave in sim are exactly how they behave in live, so that's not an issue. When you go live you may notice a difference in fills as compared to sim, but hotkeys don't do fills hotkeys only create orders.

@alexander shanks Hey, sorry to hear you're still having troubles. It really shouldn't be that you are using a SIM account.... I think it may be time to reach out to their support if you haven't already.

Make sure your montage says "LIMIT" not "STOP".
