3) Have you experimented with the bracket order functionality? This might be a work-around of my problem in #1. My understanding is they follow a One-Cancels-All paradigm. So you can do something like: hotkey to get a market long, and it will auto add a SL - 1.00 and TP + 1.00. And the brackets will be canceled if you manually close the position. I've been told this exists but i haven't been able to code it yet. 

 

I don't know if it can help you but I'm using the TWS API to create my entry orders. Here is how I do it: the script is submitting a StopLimit in a bracket order with an OCO (One Cancel Others) group of a Stop, a Limit and MOC (Market On Close) orders. If I plan to have multiple take profit targets I pass multiple bracket orders with the split I want. The amount is computed automatically according to the risk I want to take.

@FredL that sounds pretty interesting !! Let's open a new thread about the TWS API if you want to share some of your knowledge. I can replicate the examples on my end and maybe we can build something interesting for the community. You in ?

TBH I never managed to make the API work for me. I don't know what I was doing wrong and the documentation is pretty much oweful! hahaha Most of the time IB looks like they don't want you to use their software, right ?

Sure no problem to share information about the TWS API. I'm using Python but I know it can also work for Java, C++, C#, and VisualBasic.
