Paul aka Aurbano posted a topic in Bear Bull Traders - Members Only!
Hi guys, I've been working on a nice dark setup that works for me on InteractiveBrokers TWS platform including : 3 monitors for active trading ( screenshot and XML attached below ) 1 monitor for watchlist + spy + scanner + portfolio Tons of Hotkeys ! And I 've been working heavily to setup hotkeys using Andrews' methodology : Buy long at the Ask + 0.03 Sell short at the Bid - 0.03 I implemented this on IB TWS using a similar approach but using : Buy long at the Ask with limit buy + 0.03 Sell short at the Bid with limit sell - 0.03 (check the screenshots below ) Here are the main hotkeys : (screenshot and XML attached below) New orders generators : Ctrl + [ 1 .... 0 ] : LMT buy at ask limit + 0.03 >> from 100 shares to 1.000 shares Shift + [ 1 .... 0 ] : LMT sell at bid limit - 0.03 >> from 100 shares to 1.000 shares Orders general management : Ctrl + Q : cancel all orders and close full position at market price but you can exit position using the opposite order ( Buy for Shorting and Sell for Longing ) Ctrl + C : cancel all active or pending orders for active chart Ctrl + U : partial placement every X cents with Y exits Ctrl + Enter : submit / transmit / update changes Tab : Select next order (inside chart) Order price changes : Ctrl + Home : move 0.02 up the limit price of the selected order Ctrl + End :move 0.02 down the limit price of the selected order Order size changes : Ctrl + RePag : add 100 shares to the current selected order size Shift + RePag : add 20 shares to the current selected order size Ctrl + AvPag : substract 100 shares to current selected order size Shift + AvPag : substract 20 shares to current selected order size If you have NO position opened yet Right clic on chart + Buy : enter long with $11.000 (default position) at the price selected on the chart after second clic (LMT order) Right clic on chart + Sell : enter short with $11.000 (default position) at the price selected on the chart after second clic (LMT order) Ctrl + S : Stop sell with $11.000 position for a short position at the selected price below current price (if placed above current price will sell inmediately) Ctrl + B : Stop buy with $11.000 position for a long position at the selected price above current price (if placed below current price will sell inmediately) If you have a position already opened Right clic on chart + Buy : close short position with LMT order at the selected price on chart Right clic on chart + Sell : close long position with LMT order at the selected price on chart Ctrl + S : Stop Loss to close a long position at the selected price on chart (whole position) Shift + S : Stop Loss Limit ($0.10 range) to close a long position at the selected price on chart during premarket (whole position) Ctrl + B : Stop Loss to close a short position at the selected price on chart (whole position) Shift + B : Stop Loss Limit ($0.10 range) to close a short position at the selected price on chart during premarket (whole position) New AutoHotKeys Script : ** F4 : Histogram / Volume by price indicator F5 : Refresh chart information F6 : Draw an horizontal line F7 : Remove all the drawings and personal annotation from the chart F8 : Draw fibonacci lines F9 : (De)activate Chart Trader F10 : (De)activate Chart Trader on smaller charts (yes menús are different) F11 : (Un)show completed trades marks F12 : Show window name Youtube video (7m) with fast explanation and examples (spanish with subtitles) : https://youtu.be/1gflAufNMxI Youtube video (1h20m) for the spanish community in BBT (with subtitles) : https://youtu.be/DOSHys3WoRk To access chart hotkey setup : File menu > Global configuration > Charts > ChartTrader > Hotkeys To download this hotkeys and layout : Download the text file attached : tws.txt Change the extension to XML File menu > Layout / Settings Recovery > Custom > Select file Do not forget to save your current setup before for roll back if needed ** AutoHotKey is a Windows Software that provide a simple macro script language to write down any kind of macro process that can be done over and over again. This software is 100% free and independent from TWS, however I managed a way to use a script that will only activate the above function keys on TWS windows. The function will be launched in the window which is inmediately under the mouse pointer, so be sure that the mouse is where it should be if you don't want any other function on TWS to be launched. This Script is very straight foreward and it has some comments inside to let you know what can be done with the keys and menu functions. I personally hated using the context menu or the main manu of the chart and click 3 times just to draw a simple horizontal line, but TWS has no support to many many basic commonly used tasks AND I DECIDED TO WRITE MY OWN 😉 To add on top of it the new AutoHotKey Script : Download and install AutoHotKey 1.33 software from : https://www.autohotkey.com/ Download the Custom Script file for TWS at the end of this post : TWS-AutoHotKeys.txt Open it with some text editor like WordPad, Notepad or SublimeText and check line 30 to add you own TWS Account Number Change the extension to AHK After launching TWS on your Windows PC, double click on the Script icon (which I personally store in the desktop). Last updates : Oct, 25th 2024 - Added two YouTube videos with examples (in Spanish with subtitles) Aug, 29th 2020 - Fixed AutoHotKey macro script to avoid using the macros outside TWS Aug, 28th 2020 - Added base subscriptions screenshot for L1 or SIM Aug, 27th 2020 - Added new Setup file with hotkeys fix If you wanna add option chanin information activate this options detailed here : tws_2020ago.txt TWS-AutoHotKeyScript.txt -
Laptop for Day Trading Recommendation
SophieDoane posted a topic in Day Trading Hardware, Software and Tools
Hi all, I am currently in the process of choosing a Windows laptop for day trading ( to run DAS ), and I am having trouble with knowing what to purchase. I have been looking into gaming laptops, but it is difficult since I have always been a Mac person. In my research I have come across the MSI - Thin GF63 15.6" 144Hz Gaming Laptop. The other specifications are listed below: - Intel 12th Gen Core i7 - 2650H with 32GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 - 1TB SSD I also already have a very large LG Ultrafine 4K monitor. Has anyone else used this laptop or computer brand before? I also looked into Dell, but they might be out of my price range at the moment. Here is a link to the product as well: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/msi-thin-gf63-15-6-144hz-gaming-laptop-intel-12th-gen-core-i7-12650h-with-32gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3050-1tb-ssd-black/6559383.p?skuId=6559383 Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! -
Hi BBT Family, Herewith I would like to share my main go to setup at the open. So basically, it is a FADE setup that takes advantage of range, resistance and support. What I look for are stocks that are up at least 200% (3x) from their 3-month lows, have elevated RVOL (min of 1.5), have decent AVOL (for liquidity) and range (min of 0.50 ATR). These are the fundamental stock search metrics. FWIW, I also look at other fundamentals like float, IO and short float. But I have yet to find indicators that add to this particular setup. The most important indicators are two intra-day metrics: 1) a strong prior day opening drive and 2) a strong close (by which I mean a stock that closes near its highs). The reason for this is that stocks that have a strong opening drive the prior day, tend to have a weak opening drive the next day. This is even more so, when a stock also closes strong on the day. My thesis is that a stock has run and those whom have held want to take their profits. So basically, I am looking at an overextended stock that is also "overextended" from a short term / intra-day perceptive. The play itself is "simple": You chart out support and resistance and short into a weak opening drive (near S1 support). Reasons2cover should be EMA/SMA or level 2 indicators like bids holding at key levels / whole levels or EMA/SMA's etc. I found it nice that this setup ties in with Andrews ORB setup, but also different because it does not focus on the opening range. I have added the ORB to my S1 FADE setup as a metric to short a pop and use the top end of the candle or VWAP as a guide / stop. There are many challenges I need to work on though. One of the challenges I found on an overextended chart is that they also tend to be.. boring. Although AVOL might be liquid, there is always a chance the stock just does not move (yes, sideways). That is why RVOL is so important. Preferably this is a setup I trade with fresh news, like positive earnings, sales update or analyst upgrade. My backup here, if the trade does not work is, what I call, the R1 FADE. Which follows the same fundamentals, usually suitable for stocks that did not close near its prior days high, but also held above VWAP. This setup is my backup for when a stock does not have either a strong or weak opening drive. It is important though a stock is green. Which ties in with an "indecisive" opening and still have an opportunity on the short side. This setup ties in with the VWAP reversal trade (I think) but is different too as the focus is around R1 resistance. Does this make sense to you? What are your thoughts? Very interested in feedback from the community. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Newbie looking for advice on setup - use a TV?
pommyg posted a topic in Bear Bull Traders - Members Only!
Hi - I'm a new member going through the educational stuff - amazing! I've been interested in finance since I was 12 and am now mid-late 40s. Not much in the way of day trading experience though and I have already had improvements. My current setup is an all in one on my right and a horizontal screen/vertical screen in front of me - something like below. The monitor on the right is my all in one and angled somewhat on a perpendicular desk. I dont want my neck turned to the right for prolonged positions so just use it to glance every now and then at things. Anyway, I saw using multiple monitors in the educational materials https://bearbulltraders.com/lessons/part-3-multiple-monitors-watchlist/. Is there a suggested 4 monitor setup like that? I dont play games, I use my setup to watch youtube, read documents, email, use IB TWS and now DAStrader Pro. I would like to move away from my current collection of misfitted monitors and something more organised. Not immediately, but over a 1-2 month period. Could I use a large 4k TV like the one below to divide one screen in front of me into four areas, using 2-3 for DAS and 1-2 for other things. https://www.amazon.ca/TCL-50S425-CA-Ultra-Smart-Television/dp/B07KG318MQ/ Yes, I'm cheap! I'd rather not spend alot of money on monitors when I do not game. What do you all think? Would it be suitable for what I want to do and is there a better way that I have not considered. Thanks in advance and for such a great community. Pommy -

Dual Ultra-Wide Setup for the guy who asked for a pic
Carlos G. posted a topic in Bear Bull Traders - Members Only!
Someone in the chat asked me to post a picture of my two ultra-wide monitors, but I forgot at the time. Not sure who it was, but here you go. They're LG 34" 21:9 3440x1440 monitors (P/N: LG34UC98). I use them for more than trading, but they work great for that as well. I don't like to extend DAS beyond the left-half of my right monitor because I don't want to have to turn my head to see charts. I know some would prefer to build upwards and I can understand that, but most of my focus is on my left ultra-wide, so it works for me. Also, the chatroom is on the smaller far-left monitor and I usually keep finviz or thinkorswim on the far-right. Just wanted to give you a look at what it's like for anyone wanting to go this route for their setup. Let me know if you have questions. Carlos G.
