Confussion between Das Simulator and Das Trader Pro

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am new in the community (and in the world of Trading to be fair). I have spent the past two months reading books, watching trading videos here and in youtube, and I feel like I can start with my simulation period, but I am little confused about the DAS platform. The DAS simulator offered here seems to have a few limitations:

  1. Can not be linked to any broker
  2. Can not be customized, no market data can be added or removed, it is offered as is.

Does this mean that once I decide to go live, I have to start over with a new DAS setup? This one does not take any customizations apparently.

If I start with the regular DAS pro, in SIM mode, will that one allow me to customize as I learn, and then keep any customization once I decide to go live ? Do I need to create a IB account before and link it to the DAS app?

I am really unsure about the next steps into my SIM learning time!

I hope my questions make sense!

Thanks~~

Hi Jeremias,

1. Das Trader Pro Simulator can't be linked to any broker since it's a simulator, on the other hand, Das Trader Pro can be linked to any supported brokers.

2. The simulator can't be customized. It comes with real-time market data for stocks, Nasdaq TotalView (which includes INET book orders and Level 2 quotes for the Nasdaq, NYSE and NYSE American Exchanges); Options Level 1 and Market Replay Level 1. No market data can be added or removed.

You can save any scripts to use later with pro. You definitely need a real broker account (IB, or any supported) before linking with Das Trader Pro.

Best of luck.
