My Trader Psychology Solution: William's "Ultimate DAS hotkey"

Recommended Posts

I still have some bad trading habits. I take profit too early, and I re-enter positions when I shouldn't. I decided to take more dramatic measures to correct these problems and they seem to be working, so I thought I would share.

I use this hotkey, which  was posted on Youtube in 2020, presented by William. It's basically the fixed risk hot key but it also calculates a profit-taking order, not just a stop loss. It's easily configurable, so I set my hotkey to close all-out at 2R. I only use this hotkey to take positions.

My other rule is I only take 1 trade per day. After I enter my one trade, I close my DAS and bookmap. A separate window remains on my screen, which will let me know when my position was closed.

I don't plan on doing things this way forever, and I recognize the many disadvantages of trading in such a restricted way, but it's working for me. Below is my gross equity curve before and after changing to these rules. The blue vertical line represents the day I started trading this new way:

I will gradually loosen up the rules over time. But for now this works for me because I am only looking for trades that offer better profit ratios, I'm not tempted to close my position too early, I can't revenge trade, and I genuinely have confidence in my trading. It's only been 3 weeks but the numbers are looking good for me so far, so thought I would share if you're having similar problems
