New Member Looking for Guidance

Hi All,

My Name is Trevor. I am a new BBT member and loving the material so far. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for best approaching the material. I am going through the education centre right now but feeling a little lost as to how to take the next steps of going into a simulator. When should I get DAS and Trade Ideas?

Would love to connect with someone to chat more.

Thanks,

Trevor

Hello Trevor,

Hope all is well with you. I just want to start by saying that I'm still new to trading. I'm a very big advocate of the simulator and I wish I would have realized the importance of a simulator before trading real money. Depending on what your able to afford, the DAS simulator is awesome.  I'd recommend diving right into it and keep watching ALL the modules by BBT. DAS to me was a little intimidating at first, but after a while of playing with the settings and following the advice given by BBT in the modules, you'll get it down. Then just practice trading different strategies until you find one that you like and just keep practicing.  "Screen time" is necessary and crucial to your success.  It trains your eyes and your brain to recognize the signals and patterns in the charts that you need in order to execute and manage your trades. After returning back to the modules with the screen time you obtain, everything will make that much more sense.

BBT also has there own simulator as well which is a valuable tool, but DAS is way more powerful,  plus it's important to get used to it if that's the platform you plan on using. As for trade ideas, you can just use the one they have on the chat unless you plan on plugging in your own parameters.

Hope I've helped. Take care

Respectfully,

PJ Garcia

My biggest mistake in learning was using free or cheaper simulators before finally getting DAS set up. They're not the same. The transfer learning isn't zero but it's not worth it if you'll be ready to live trade immediately after enough simulator work. I wouldn't get DAS before you've either gotten through the basic videos and/or read Andrew's first book because you won't know how to set it up or what to do with it. And then have at least one setup ready to go in your tradebook. I would also recommend going through Thor's webinar series on Where, When, and How. That would have made a huge difference if I would have had those available when I first started. They cover a lot of what's in his book.

Make sure you're ready to make use of DAS though. For example, it's not that useful to get it and then practice without hotkeys because you didn't yet know how to set them up. Only practice the way you plan to live trade.

The things you learn in the simulator:

1. How to work the controls.

2. How to identify and take advantage of tradebook trades - especially volume price analysis, positioning, and risk management.

3. How to manage your psychology - half of that is just mastering step 2. The rest is journaling and continuing your personal development.

I haven't needed Trade Ideas because you can get almost all the same data between the chat room and BBT Terminal.

Hi Trevor, I am in the same place but about 8 months later.  Feeling kind of stuck on how to get going in simulator.  Convinced by what I have read and watch in the lessons that I should go with DAS because DAS is what I will use when I go live.  Hope you've been successful moving forward.

Hi Trevor,

Welcome to BBT.  When you are in Education Center try to finish material in a sequence like beginner, intermediate then advance. If you feel lost you can watch same material several times, that will help.

Best of luck!
