Hot Key Woes

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I am a beginner, still working my way around the SIM. I have a problem with the hot keys that I can't figure out. I have a key programmed with the 1:2 RR Long. Script as follows, copied and pasted from the Hotkeys.txt

CXL ALLSYMB;StopPrice=Price-0;DefShare=BP*0.97;Price=Ask-Price+0.00;SShare=100/Price;Share=DefShare-SShare;DefShare=DefShare+SShare;SShare=Share;Sshare=DefShare-SShare;Share=0.5*SShare;TogSShare;ROUTE=LIMIT;Price= Ask+0.05;TIF=DAY;BUY=Send;DefShare=200;Price=Ask-StopPrice*2+Ask;TriggerOrder=RT:STOP STOPTYPE:RANGE LowPrice:StopPrice HighPrice:Price ACT:SELL QTY:POS TIF:DAY+;

However, it just seems to randomly generate a number of shares with massive differences. i.e If i buy shares in say TRKA @ 1.47 it will buy 833, @ 1.42 it will buy 10,000, @ 1.42 (again) it will buy 5,000.

Montage style set to stop order, BP/Equity levels all fine (although i have reset them, but its still the same)

It also does the same to my 1:2 RR Short.

It also often pops up with cannot get valid price.

Hope you can help

Thanks

Colin

Hi Bryan

Yes, I have watched the videos and I fully understand there will be differences in the amount of shares depending on price etc.

But when the price is the same i.e 1.42, sometimes it buys 5000 shares, sometimes 10,000. Surely this disparity is way to big . ??

But sometimes it works perfect, sometimes it goes crazy.

I'll watch it again tonight incase I am doing something daft.

Thanks

Colin

Hi Bryan

I have rewatched the video and can see no issues

Setting up the hot keys is pretty easy and not a issue.

I will try again but with the equalised risk instead of 2:1 to see if any success.

Only thing I can think of is I am using the latest beta version of DAS.

I will 'downgrade' to latest stable version of DAS to see if that cures it.

Thanks

Colin

Hi Peter

Yes, I double click on chart to set stop loss.

But I can double click , then hit hot key and it will buy 5,000 shares.

1 second later, I can double click in same place and hit hot key and it will buy 10,000 shares.

I know depending on share price it will buy X amount of shares, but it will buy massively different amounts, even with the same share price.

I am on holiday at the moment and will try downgrading to latest stable version of DAS when I get home.

I can certainly rule out pasting it wrong, I grew up with PC's from the early days of DOS and Windows 2.0 lol ( I'm old haha )

Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I don't see how.

I can double click in exact same place with share price the same, yet it buys vastly different amounts of shares.

I am back from my holidays today, so I will have another attempt with different script.

Cheers

Yes .

I am not sure if the problem is something related to the BP. As going through the forum, somebody had a very similar problem to me. Kyle posted the solution, as there was a strange issue with the BP  and it needed to be reset.

However, I have reset mine and problem still exists.

I'll have a good long play with it tonight and I'm free all day tomorrow, so I'll get my teeth into it.

Cheers for your help

Kyle will usually suggest creating your own set from his spreadsheet just help avoid syntax errors; it doesn't take much for the script to have errors.

Hi Bryan

Back from my hols and just spent about 2 hours putting on trades.

It hasn't happened once !!! No crazy ass amount of shares, No ' not been able to get a valid price '

Every trade with hot key worked perfect.

I filled my drive up with videos, but all were good 🤬🤬.

Tomorrow I plan to put a zillion trades on and see if the gremlins strike again.

Thank you for help

Hi Bryan

Well after putting on lots of trades , it's all worked perfect today again.

Not sure exactly what the root cause was, but I have done away with my wifi and gone to wired LAN , and also changed to a wired mouse. I was always going to do this when going live, but thought i may as well do it now.

However I reckon you were correct and I was incorrectly clicking in wrong place. I was obviously unaware of it, but as since you mentioned it, I have been extremely careful of my mouse placement, there have been no more strange errors.

Thank you very much. I can now move forward until i hit my next hurdle.

Colin
