Never traded before and confused with flow of information on BBT

Recommended Posts

Zeyneb

I'm a complete beginner in every sense of the word. I've gone through 1 other trading course prior to signing up to BBT, but that's where it ends. Unfortunately I'm finding the flow of information on BBT quite confusing, there is a LOT of emphasis placed on things having the right tools and technology, but very little mention of explaining the strategies used? In the videos it's mentioned but quickly glossed over. I'm getting quite nervous as I'm approaching the end of the course and feel like I haven't learned nearly enough. I'm currently going through the advanced course and on lesson : "How to find your trading strategy ...." where he says to skip ahead to "Watch Tradebook Section" ??? I've also just requested to have the DAS SIM activated today, so I'm too committed to back out now .

Basically, what I need to know are the following,

1. Is this course suited to beginners who are new to trading and

2. If I watch everything, in the order it's presented in, will that be enough to equip me with everything I need to eventually start trading?

Hi,

You will be fine.  As a beginner you need to know some of the basic about trading such as chart, technical indicators, order types, float etc.  Keep watching and eventually you will see everything is making sense.

Best of luck.

hi @Zeyneb, how long did you check the videos at the Educational Center and how long have you attended the live openning or day with moderators ?? I must say that such quantity of videos, lessons, concepts, etc is very overwhelming specially at the begining and the learning curve is steady untill after several weeks or months everything start to make "some" sense.

KISS : Keep It Simple Stupid >> meaning, take 1 bit of information at a time : go throw some videos and try to check for references or examples during the current day, then move on to the next topic 😉

Answering to this :
1) yes, BBT is awesome for beginners but you have to take your time to digest so many new concepts.
2) probably NOT, but please, take into consideration that start trading is like trying to the Olimpics during your first year of trainning. You have to think of it as a marathon, bc you will keep learning new things every single day from now.

1. yes it is but read the books

100% agreed on that one too @peterB .... but please @Zeyneb do not hesitate to start with a bigger market scope of the market dinamics reading this 2 master pieces :

a) Secrets of a Pivot Boss - by Fran Ochoa : https://www.amazon.com/Secrets-Pivot-Boss-Revealing-Profiting/dp/B010TTBQPY

b) Markets in profile - by James Dalton : https://www.amazon.com/Markets-Profile-Profiting-Auction-Process/dp/0470039094

It took me 2 years of simulator and huge loosses to realize that there is much more in the markets that the 1min chart scalping and you need to understand them before deciding what strategy suits you better : scalping, trend trading, ORBs, VWAP, etc, etc, etc ...

1. Learn to use the DAS software or which ever trading platform u have decided to use......so u did make the right decision to activate DAS SIM.

2. Learn to read the charts or as they say Price Action (PA).. Observe how price moves, Levels, Candles sticks,

3. Learn how to place trades with the chosen software.

4. ask questions in this FORUM and the CHAT Room

Budget for a minimum of 12 mths of learning.......this is just the start.

Thank you for your responses. It would have helped so much more if things were laid  out in an easy to understand flow style. Jumping around, skipping videos, diving right into things like Utilizing a playbook, is all way too overwhelming for someone that doesn't know much. Anyway, I'm in too deep now to back out so I'll have make sense of it all. So far the video "How to Find Your Trading Strategy to Meet Your Trading Goals" seems to lay things out in a step by step format. So my plan is to follow all the steps mentioned there, and read the books recommended. Long road ahead for me lol

Hi Zeyneb,

I'm into trading quite a couple of years now. Only since 1-1-2022 I am started with serious becoming a consistent profitable daytrader. One of the most difficult questions for me now is: which strategy fits the best for me?

This is how daytrading works: lots and lots of information and indeed it takes a lot of time. But that is also the fun. Keep developing yourself, be patient and just make choices. There is probably not one right choice. You can always change and adapt.

So I will pick one strategy for the next weeks. Is it ORB? Is it ABCD? Is it reversal? It doesn't matter. Just start doing your thing!

Welcome to the community. It's every day a new experience ;-).

Peter

You must start with the basic courses. Watch them a couple of times, Read Andrew's book too.

After that move to the strategy which clicks to you, or the strategies of the moderator you feel you understand the most. Something you want to try.. For me personally, I remember from the first days, I was drawn to Airman's trading style, Although I just joined BBT, I tended to watch his videos and webinars and join his reviews on Monday and Thursday, I didn't understand the price action but I felt that I am gaining knowledge which makes sense to me,  this is where my intuition was leading me.

You need to practice, Just watching videos will not help as you need first to get screen time, understand the platform and how it works and than move to the strategy. Spend a month to find out which layout you are comfortable, go through  DAS menus, try everything, don't rush to trade. Click buttons and watch price action.

Once you have found time frames you will be looking at,  you like dark or light charts, you know how to use the montage and your eyes are comfortable with the speed of T&S and L2, move to the strategies.. I started with ABCD, than reversals. Note down the rules of the strategy you are going to trade and start from there. Trade the strategy for a month or more, one strategy at the time and keep stats on your performance. Take screenshots on all your trades and review them after the market close. Track your win rate by strategy and your Rs. It will start showing which is your style.  Slowly you will start seeing better results with one strategy and some of the strategies will not work for you. But you have to do this for at least a month per strategy. There is no recipe which can tell you which strategy to chose as we are all different and if something works for someone, doesn't work for the other. You find yourself by practicing. It is a process and takes long. Set the right expectations. I am 2 years in trading and just now consider transitioning live. Yes I traded 2 years in a simulator every day for 5-6 hours until I found some consistency with two strategies thanks to Aiman. I still struggle when market cycle changes and have a long way to go to master my process and psychology. But I know I can do it. This is a new skill and takes time. Don't rush the process. Repetition is the mother of all skills. Good Luck! I You will do it!

Feel free to come back here and post any questions.  There are a lot of members happy to help.  We have all been through it.  If you are not aware, in the 'room drive' there are config files for DAS and hot key/button files that can help you to get set up.  Make sure you have your DAS defaulting to your sim account!!

Hi Zeyneb

I'm in the same boat, I started reading Andrews book in early January, after a bit of 'shopping' around decided BBT seemed best for me. I think it was a great decision to join them, massive amounts of information to learn.  So far I am loving it, although I agree that the flow is not ideal and you do have to bounce around a bit. But overall i feel it is a brilliant source of learning. I have just signed up for the Sim too, so now its a another learning curve  of working your head around DAS, whilst also still trying to take in what they are saying in the videos. Nobody said it was going to be easy haha.

But have faith, I do, us humans have a fantastic ability to learn when repetition is involved, just keep watching, practicing, practising and practising.

Those first trading strategies videos by Mike Baehr seemed to have been misplaced as many of the links from before seem to be broken, perhaps by some housekeeping at BBT's end?

I did some research (and started a ticket) and learned that the videos can now be found from the following links:

1.  https://bearbulltraders.com/course/advanced/lesson/starting-a-trading-business/topic/module-1-lesson-6-find-your-trading-strategy-mike/

2. https://bearbulltraders.com/equities-center/   and then select the 'Essentials" tab

3. https://bearbulltraders.com/course/advanced/

4. https://bearbulltraders.com/recent-webinars/ and then select the "Mike" tab
