Stats, and what you consider break even

Recommended Posts

Just logging all my activity in a journal and when it comes to your stats what does everyone consider break even?  If you lose only $20 do you consider that a loss?  At the same time if you win $20 do you consider that a win?  Right now I am using $50 win or loss as my break even point.  Curious to everyone thinks about this.

Thanks

Ron

Ron, I consider break-even a loss since I track my P&L before commissions on individual trades.

Anything over break-even is a win in my books (even $1).

If you're risking $50 on a trade, making $50 on a trade is a fine result. I'd say to use some significant fraction of your risk on a trade to decide what constitutes a scratch/break-even versus a winner/loser.
