IB TWS - Day trading setup

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

New here to BBT.

Looking for others who use IB TWS for day trading and advice on their hot keys, etc.  I have been using "hot buttons" for most of my trades. Screenshots for my sim account but same as my live.

I am unaware of how to take partials using % which is too bad.  I have been using nominal amounts like 200 shares and scaling out with 25, 50 etc. and having to do the math for my remainder.

The top row - green buttons are long limit orders at the ask with different share sizes.  I don't usually have problems getting into a trade.

Middle row - red buttons selling on the bid with different share sizes.

Bottom row - Green and Red buy/sell market orders with different sizes.

I have two buttons that are stop limit orders using chart-trader where I can click the screen where I want a partial or a stop... and I have to adjust share size to my position after entering it since default is 100 with my buttons.

Any recommendations would be appreciated with order types, layout, buttons, etc.

Thanks,  Dustin

Use the "Reverse Position" Button and Customize 20% Partial as 10% (Dont ask me how this works in IB!) and if doing 10% Partial would be 5%, hope that helps

That’s great! I’ll have to try it out. Not sure what order type it would use but I’ll try it out in the simulator.
