Camarilla Pivot Strategies Friday 3-14-25 - Trading Recap

Hey all,

I’d love to heart your feedback on my thought processes regarding Thor’s strategies. I am going to try to make a couple of posts per week and hone in on what I think were the best trades and then post the actual trades that I made (unlikely to be the best trades… but maybe!).

 

I am most interested in what you guys think about why I think a good setup is a good setup and if you agree or disagree and why. I am going to be posting daily cams at 1m bars and 5m bars and then weekly cams showing the trend for the week and the month. I am definitely not an expert when it comes to CAM trading and I’d love to learn more about what creates higher probability setups. Thank you for taking the time to break this down for me. Here are the best trades that I think were the best setups, if there were others please let me know.

1. Tsla r-4 extreme reversal -

Why I thought it was a good setup:

1. The cams lined up perfectly, tsla was in a downtrend and it gapped up and made an r4 reversal, the market rejected the gapped up value.

2. The entry was perfectly reoffered at value on 1 minute bars, exactly in the middle of the huge rejection candle (this is where I put our “theoretical entry” in my fake tradezella trade).

3. It hit a 4:1 pretty easily.

 

 

2. PLTR r-4 breakout

Why I thought this was a good setup:

1. The stock gapped up and was near r4 at the open, exactly where we want it to be for a r4 breakout or (r4 reversal).
2. The stock traded down the day before, but it was trending upward in the afternoon. I would be interested to hear your guys’ thoughts if this fits the standard r4 breakout because generally this requires a higher range, but the cam range was lower so it made it easier for the stock to gap up…
3. It traded down to r4 and made a perfect pivot to place a stop.

 

Anyway, to recap what I did on Friday, which was a gap up 1% day… kind of similar to Wednesday.

I first made a decision to short NVDA (buy puts), well above R4, as some sort of R4 reversal play.

This was a bad idea and the trade moved against me right away and I got “stopped out”… all in all it was a very bad first trade.
 

What I learned from this trade:

1. I need to journal more about the exact reason why I took this trade. If I remember correctly the order book was balanced… this trade was taken in a kill zone and all in all… not that great. The stock did make a huge reversal after gapping up almost the exact same amount on Wednesday.

The second trade I made was a good one and actually a perfect trade, except the fact I decided to close it out early. I traded the q’s (bought options) after the r4 breakout. This was one of the actual winners of the day. Sadly I saw an anomaly candle and decided to cut my trade short instead of letting it get stopped out. Not letting this trade play itself out cost me my day and it cost me $1600 and as well, I had an minus week instead of a positive week because of it.

what I learned from this trade:

Set the stops and let the stops get hit.

The third trade I made was the opposite of q’s breakout trade… there’s not really a playbook for it and honestly it just doesn’t make any sense why I did it…. I have vowed to not trade in the kill zone going forward.

never trade in the kill zone.
