Stevecb06 Swing Trade Journal

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

My name is Steve, a lifetime member here at BBT.  I have tried a few times over the years to day trade, but due to my circumstances I think I have finally accepted that day trading is just not for me.  I have a pretty demanding career (IT Manager) and have found that staring at charts all day keeps me from being productive in my role.  I love my career and want to keep it as my priority.  I view trading as more of a side gig than something I want to go full time with, so I think swing trading is going to just be a better fit for me.  I know this community is focused more on day trading, but I want to journal and log my experiences with swing trading here to try to give back to the community in any way that I can.

Although I have been reading and experimenting and learning about trading for several years now and consider myself to have intermediate knowledge on the topic, I have never shown that I can be consistently profitable, so I am still considering myself to be a novice.  This journal will hopefully document my journey to becoming a profitable trader.

I am starting out very small, targeting a risk of about $5 per trade.  Only after I show that I can be consistently disciplined and profitable will I increase my risk, and even then, I will increase my risk very slowly.

I will document and chart all my trades here, and provide a monthly update along with P&L.  I hope this journal can be useful for both myself, and you all.  Happy trading!
