Finding Time to Trade

Recommended Posts

jakec722

I have the funds available to trade, I've set up my trading account through CMEG and DAS, and I want to get started with the DAS simulator for 3 months to practice. The only issue I have is that I live and work in the time zone CDT and go to work at 7am and get off work at 5pm. This means that I miss the market every day due to work hours. I've considered trading in the pre-market hours but with low volume I feel this is far too risky. Has anyone had to overcome a similar hurdle and/or does anyone have a suggetion on how  I can overcome this?

Thanks!

I have had to deal with this too and the only other time that has somewhat decent volume (still not compared to normal market hours) is the asian session about 2-4AM est, but obviously this is not realistic since we need sleep. The best thing I could really say is trade when you have the opportunity too the low volume can suck. I would keep the position size really small while learning the ropes and try discretionary trading. Only enter with limit/stop orders and same with exits. This is what worked for me for day trading. The only thing I could think outside of that is trade on a larger time frame and swing trade. I hope this helps, just unfortunately there arent many options here besides trade in after hours.
