IB account requirement question

Hi all,

I recently started trading in sim, and am looking into requirements for an IB account. I noticed they request employment info when opening an account. I am currently employed, but planning to become self-employed in the next month or so. I am wondering if I should open an account while still employed? If I do not have a regular income will I still be able to get margin? Wondering if anyone has experience with this? Or is the margin and employment unrelated? I will likely be in sim for several more months and would prefer not to deposit 25k in an account until I'm ready to go live.

I think I remember IB´s margin requirements are based net worth (all your cash and assets) and liquid worth (cash). You can start your online application for an IB account and you will know what values are required.
