Hi JC,

It would be great if you can share that updated version here.

Hi JC,

You had mentioned you had significantly updated the Total Trader excel sheet. I am looking into using the Total Trader spreadsheet for journaling but noticed that the dates have to be updated for 2021.  I was wondering if it is working well for you and if you would be willing to share your updated version.

Thanks,

Marco

Hi Marco.  It works well for me but used in combination with taking a screenshot of the trades I make and saving that picture down in addition.  That way I have a analytics file to track stats and I can find the individual trades I want to look at when I went them.  It is a bit more work to maintain than a paid software, but there is no monthly fee for this excel file...

Hi JC,

Thank you for sharing and for the detailed instructions! Very nice work taking it to the next level and on top of that looks very nice and clean. I will dig into it over the next week.

Thanks!

No worries - hope it is helpful for you.  It works well for me but if you have any issues message me and I can try to have a look.  There is no doubt possibility to improve the file.

I use this in combination with an excel playbook / trade planner I have also created (and posted on another thread in the forum).  I define the setups in the playbook.  There is a dropdown list to select the setup you want and when selected it opens a picture example of that setup and a list of up to 10 indicators I want to see prior to entering that setup.  It also calculates the R:R levels from full STOP out up to +11R to help plan partials.

I track the same indicators in the analytics file which helps me work out what indicators are most important and a minimum threshold to trigger an entry.  If I find an indicator isn't relevant I replace it with one that is and therefore try to refine the setup as I develop the stats.  Using that method the analytics file is good to use for sample populations e.g. 30-50 trades of the same setup, refine, adjust and start a new sample.

Anyway good luck with it.

JC

Hi JC,

Great update to the file. So much easier to use. I do have one question......the original had a monthly and yearly sheet for tracking. Yours only contains the weekly. Any chance of being able to add month and year. Thanks alot.

Hey Hugh Jask (love the handle btw)

When you are referring to the original file do you mean “Total Trader” or the first version I created? Just so I can have a look at the right file?

A monthly report should not be an issue. It would be a bit slimmed down versus the weekly version. A yearly one I would have reservations about including. My feeling is that if you are storing that much data it would be better to create a new file version for each year. The file would get big and very clunky after a couple of years unless your trade count is very low.

I’ve made a couple of updates fairly recently I think so could have a slightly newer version as well if you are interested. Also posted a Playbook Tradeplanner incorporating Thor’s CAM setups which may be of interest if you are using excel for prep and tracking…

Sorry, I was referring to the original TotalTrader file. Starting a new file every month is no big deal, was just curious. Yes, I am interested in the playbook planner as well, thank you

Hi. Been awhile for this thread, but is there an updated 2025 version to the Total Trader. I only ask because some of the macros no longer work for me. THX
