Is Resilience Overrated?

Recommended Posts

It’s been more than four months of lockdown and I have taught myself nothing new — no recipes, no outdoorsmanship capabilities, no repair techniques. I often reflect on the skills that our frontline and essential workers have, which not only include how to save lives, but also the ability to have pleasant and professional exchanges with other people over an extended period of time. When I compare myself to them, I think: just suck me into the hell fires already, I give up.

I am engaged in the status quo. I have not risen above the circumstances. I am not resilient. Although I am not even sure if I know what that word means anymore.

I think we have all risen above the circumstances.  Just the fact that we have tolerated and adapted to stay home is something to be proud of.  While there are people in the front lines that risk their lives everyday to take  care of others, I feel we are all contributing by keeping our distance and making sure we are not a source of new COVID and infection to others.    For me, one of the most important daily activities (working-out) was stopped in GYM Closing that happened in March.  Since then, I have adapted to do almost everything I was doing in the gym,  outside of the gym and without weights.  Humans by nature, they learn, adapt and become better. This is resilience and survival instinct and it is priceless.

Stay strong, healthy and positive.
