Major Stock Exchanges

Given the recent market and how the US exchanges all went bear and well most of the world, it got me thinking about trading other exchanges. Not now because all markets have been crazy but it got me thinking about the future and if the US markets all crash but other markets stay strong like the JPX or LSE just for example, how could I trade them? What scanners work for those markets? I'm sure trading foreign markets would be very different and take some getting used to. Does anyone have experience with stuff like this? Any advice or books or guides to learning how I could trade foreign exchanges? Thanks.
