Any supplements, nootropics for Trading success?

Recommended Posts

Anyone do any crazy voodoo shit before trading like psychadelics, nootropics, meditation, alpha brain type supplements, microdosing...?

What are your routines? Wake up, coffee, banana, shower stretch, short workout, market time for me.

I'll admit I take modafinil with mixed results. Sometimes its just better not to have anything in your system. But sometimes it really gets me in the zone.

Interesting relevant article. I won't incriminate myself on the forum.  =P

There is one nootropic that works for me. I tried a few with no effect and gave up on it until I ran into Ascend from Legion athletics. I tried it on the novelty that it actually told you exactly what the supplement contains. That was a nootropic first for me. I did feel a difference, but I was surprised by the short half life. It essentially gives me about 75% the mental alertness of caffeine with about the same half life and greater cost. But I don't want to have any caffeine before the market open. I already have an issue with nerves at the open and caffeine makes it worse for me. My stomach can't handle tea in the morning, so this Ascend product is helpful for me.

I was looking up how to set up my chart indicators and stumbled onto this thread after falling down the rabbit hole of reading someone else's journal entry's. I actually have something to add to this conversation.

I've taken modafinil in the past. I really like it, but it gave me tinnitus in my right ear. I don't take it anymore because of this.

I work long night shifts on the weekends and originally got it for this reason. If my sleep was messed up going into my shift, the modafinil would help me get though it. It's actually prescribed for this reason. I eventually stopped taking it just for work and it kinda became a 5 or 6 day a week thing.

I only took a whole pill one time. It was way too much. After experimenting, I found taking a quarter pill and drinking a sugar free monster with 140 milligrams of caffeine was best for me. The caffeine would kinda intensify the effect for a bit. For reference, 140mg of caffeine is the equivalent of about two cups of coffee.

I found the extra focus to be amazing. Modafinil really makes whatever you're doing more interesting. I loved practicing guitar with it. I could practice for two to three hours at a time no problem. And by practice, I mean real practice. No noodling around and getting nothing done. That was doing exercises and practicing with a metronome, which is usually quite boring.

The tinnitus started after around 4 or 5 months of taking it 5 or 6 days a week and never went away. This was about 3 years ago now. I'll have to live with this high pitched ringing in my right ear for the rest of my life, so I totally regret taking the modafinil and would not recommend anyone else take it for this reason.
