TradingView website - Alex Top 300?

Recommended Posts

JasonH

I've used (and even paid for) TradingView myself, but I had no idea it was a top 300 site on Alexa. What do you think most people are using this site for? Charting and alerts? What does TradingView have that no one else does?

Trading view offers a endless amount of tools for technical analysis and overall chart study with a bit more ease of use than any other charting software ive used. I trade mainly from a mac and alot of the other top platforms require you to download software thats based solely around windows or just isnt user friendly overall right out the gate as you have to build your layouts from the ground up or pay for add-ons that you can get right within the trading view community by doing a quick search. When i started trading stocks i used Dastrader for execution and trading view to develop a more in depth trading plan but as of about a year ago ive been doing everything directly within trading view. You can trade stocks, futures, forex and even crypto directly from there site just by connecting to one of the brokers they partner with. Definitely simplified everything for me overall.

@WatsonExchange I found their list of brokers. https://www.tradingview.com/brokers/ Who do you use with TradingView?

Oh if DAS had charting tools/interface like Trading View.........tht would be awesome. DAS execution of orders is the best, but charting is weakness.

Do u scalp on Trading View ?

How has it stood up in recent market conditions ?

My guess is that DAS Trader Inc keeps the charting simple in order to preserve the application's superior performance. I use thinkorswim as a study tool, and it's quite obvious how much it lags behind DAS Trader during trading hours.

TradingView is about as fast as ToS or faster. The thing I liked about TradingView was the ease of use of drawing tools and the different types of alerts you could set.

I used alerts on volume and drew trend lines and triangles and set alerts on the lines I made. I did that so if the price broke a triangle or volume spiked after consolidating, it would tell me. I also find the charts on TradingView are far superior in appearance. Getting information on retracements was better on TradingView also, there is a bug with Fib. retracements on DAS where it doesn't allow them to be drawn smoothly.

I wish IB could connect to TradingView and you could get executions and Level 2 through TradingView for IB. I considered TradeStation for this reason alone.

I am currently trying to get the real information on costs associated with TradeStation's trading. They say it's free but obviously there are some hidden costs. Not sure if they are charging for limit orders or what.

DasTrader is obviously a good platform overall but after using TradingView and sim on TradingView (spoiled by the ease of use, appearance and options, it has me thinking about using a different platform than Das.

All the charting display is done on the local PC thts why traders need fast pc.  The only data sent/rec'd is basic tick data, the local PC creates the images u see on screen. To see the small amt of data sent/rec'd double click lower right corner of DAS and this window displays the amt of data sent between the local PC and Quote Server and the Order server.

Same with Trading View actually ALL trading platforms use this concept.

Part of the DAS order / quote speed/stability is tht the DAS servers r co-located.   DAS has/provides other services to the exchange (back-end) of the exchange.  A Strategic Advantage.

I used to use TradingView with Tradestation as the broker of choice.  I liked the charting but didn't like that you could only have 2 charts for the same stock sitting on the web app at a time unless you paid a higher price to be able to get more charts or use the same account on multiple devices.  I found for myself that the scanners were not the greatest in the world unless you wanted to spend countless hours trying to figure out a way to get it to show you specific stocks that were moving in a given timeframe based on specific criteria like the TradeIdeas scanners that is used by the BBT admins.

Hi Clayton,

Does TradeStation have the same extended options for customizing hotkeys as DAS?

Tradingview is trying to connect with IB since some time, but they have different opinions on technical issues;

I use TradingView, because I have:

- a 52-week support/resistancelines script

- an automated generally important support/resistancelines script

- a pivot-point - lines script

- a premarket-lines script

- a yesterday OHLC script

- a little bar that tells me the actual bid-ask-spread

- a lot of layout-options (mine looks like a christmas-tree)

- I can mark symbols in the watchlists with flags of four different colors

- I can move the chart directly horizontally with my mouse instead of moving it in the bar below the chart as in DAS

- the scanners show symbols that hit the scan once, not having the same symbols pop up again and again as in TradeIdeas

- I pay only 29 $ in the pro+ version

- if I want to go premium for 50$, I would have 1, 5, 15, 30 second-charts, still less than half of Trade-Ideas

Minuses:

- If I didn't miss something, it has all the possibilities that Andrew recommends except short-interests and consecutive candles

- new symbols don't show up on top of the scanner. I've solved this by copying the whole list repeatedly into my watchlist, with the new symbols then appearing at the end of the list

- each chart has the bulky browser-frame

here is the spread-bar:

Well generally I agree Tradingview has a superior CHARTING app/interface ( Clean bug free, tools, endless stuff ), DAS has great Order Processing/Transaction processing + level 2/Time and Sales. If ur active trader this is important.

DAS scanner is crap so thts not up for comparison, thts why everyone uses T.I. TI can be configure to almost everything.

85% of  ur plus list DAS provides, u just have to look for them or ask DAS.

In ur minus list - press F11 to get full screen and remove browser title.

Cost is a big factor....DAS is expense.

just a note on this: ..........LEARNING TAKES EFFORT............. if ur not willing to put in the effort try another profession.

I don't sell / promote DAS or TradingView.  I just sate facts about each or any trading platform.

DAS is poorly documented compared to TradingView.  So the best option for u is use the real-time DAS live chat facility on DAS website (bottom left corner of the website). They will answer ur questions immediately.

Other sources are DAS channel on YouTube and with videos, also in this forum use the search box with key words.

Just note this:  If you're not willing to communicate and to prove what you write, it makes no sense to post in a forum in the first place.

An old timer friend of mine taught me that you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink.

I took care of his horses for 3 mths over the summer. Very fulfilling experience.

The time you took for judging me and giving me negative advice, is about five times more than it would have taken to put a few marks on my list.

It also eludes me what kind of learning-effect you see in the act of information-gathering.  I would write a mail to DAS, which keeps me and them busy, only because you don't want to take the five seconds to put those marks.  Which I don't have a problem with at all - but the philosophical windings that you take as again in your last post, well I don't need that at all.
