Move Stop to Break Even - Hot key Button

Recommended Posts

blackvise

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a hot key button similar to the one Thor uses to Move his stops to break even with the adjusted share size after taking his partials.  Up to this point I've been having to manually recreate my stops with every partial I take.   This is an error prone and time-inefficient process.  If anyone is able to assist that would be greatly appreciated (I've attempted reaching out to Thor on YT & in chat without success).

Here is an example below from one of his recent recaps where he uses it after taking a partial on $RAD.

Thanks PeterB, I'm actually already using Kyle's script to dynamically calculate my position sizing based on my specified risk tolerance.  I'm specifically looking for a hot key to adjust Stops once already in a position.

ALLSYMB;Route=Stop;Price=AvgCost;StopType=MARKET;STOPPRICE=AvgCost;StopPrice=Round2;Share=Pos;TIF=DAY+;Send=Reverse

Great thanks Abiel!

I just tested this and it seems to work well for creating a new stop market order at my entry price with the adjusted share size accounting for partials.  One thing I've observed it doesn't do is replace any existing stop market order on the same ticker at the original stop loss price(but perhaps this is not possible?).  Either way this is a great improvement and at the very least this does already save me a few steps.

Missed the CXL

CXL ALLSYMB;Route=Stop;Price=AvgCost;StopType=MARKET;STOPPRICE=AvgCost;StopPrice=Round2;Share=Pos;TIF=DAY+;Send=Reverse

have you opened the kyles xls file? it is all there in the hotkey tab. to cancel the previous order add CXL ALLSYMB; in the beginning of your script

I haven't opened up Kyle's .xls since initially setting up earlier last year.  I think I may have had an earlier release version that didn't yet have that functionality added.  I'll sync up to the latest and look it over again tonight, thanks!

if you are using CMEG they wont work properly so be aware of that.

Define properly. Like Kyle's hotkey for moving the stop loss to break even doesn't work at all with CMEG?

Hi all,

First of all, thanks for all the valuable help so far!

I'm also trying to use this hotkey in Sim, but after using it something very strange happens with all hotkeys/buttons/commands after that. The prices to buy/sell are somehow offset and thus the orders are not working and never get executed, just pile in the orders window. Then after restarting the DAS app then it all gets back to normal. Has anyone experienced same problem?

Which hotkeys are you using exactly? Are you using IB? And what are you wanting your hotkeys to do?

Hi,

I'm trying to use the command/hotkey described above to move stop loss to b/e:

CXL ALLSYMB;Route=Stop;Price=AvgCost;StopType=MARKET;STOPPRICE=AvgCost;StopPrice=Round2;Share=Pos;TIF=DAY+;Send=Reverse

I'm in Sim currently, otherwise yes I'm with IB. I'm also using Kyle's hotkeys to trade.

Hi Mihail,

Please take a look at my post at the bottom of the page here, these are my hotkeys, I use slightly different ones, and I don't use the Reverse portion. Give mine a whirl, they haven't failed me yet.
