Do you guys have any hot keyscripts  to short stocks on ssr?   Made a lot of mistakes today with my hot keys lol..

What I do is simply use a script to sell on the ask.

If the stock price is moving down .... and you think it will keep moving down,  you can sell on the ask ... or a penny or two below the ask (if there is a spread) and simply keep tapping the hotkey to lower your offer price if the stock price keeps tanking.

CXL ALLSYMB;Share=100;SShare=100;TIF=DAY+;Price=Ask;Route=SMRTL;SELL

Since the first part of this script is  canceling your previous order you are in effect simply chasing the stock down ... being on the ask ... with each tap of the hotkey.  But ... there is a small problem in that you can get a double fill sometimes since what you are seeing on your screen as you are staring at the level II montage is actually delayed by a short period of time  (milliseconds) from realtime and you may have gotten a fill on your short order just before you tap the hotkey to lower your order as you chase the dropping price.  So what I do sometimes (especially is a VERY active stock) is to use two hotkeys together... Setup on the keyboard to ergonomically work easily with one hand...  for example  F12 and F11

F11  CXL ALLSYMB;Share=100;SShare=100;TIF=DAY+;Price=Ask;Route=SMRTL;SELL

F12  CXL ALLSYMB

F11  CXL ALLSYMB;Share=100;SShare=100;TIF=DAY+;Price=Ask;Route=SMRTL;SELL

F12  CXL ALLSYMB

This way you are sure the previous order (F12) is out of the market and not filled before you throw another order out on the ask.

On a stock with a significant spread you have room to place your sell order below the current ask price and "potentially be the inside ask" yuorself .... instead of just joining an ask price that has a ton of orders already where you probably will not get filled.  This will help get filled but you will be amazed at the speed of all the algo's out there as they instantly join you at that price.

Here would be the script to be 2 cents inside the ask price ... located at F9 ... again to make it easy to rock two keys on the keyboard,   F9 - F12 - F9 - F12  as you lower your offer price to chase the price down.

F9  CXL ALLSYMB;Share=100;SShare=100;TIF=DAY+;Price=Ask-.02;Route=SMRTL;SELL

This technique is of course an aggressive short entry method and not to be used unless you "REALLY" want in on a short position.
