Long term investing and saving

Good morning BBTs,

It seems to me that most BBTs use between $25k and $100k for day trading, but where do you invest or save the bulk of your funds? I currently have a saving account with Ally which used to return 2.2% annually but it is down to 1.8%. CDs and bonds produce slightly higher yields but I do not want to lock my funds for a long time unless the % return is substantially higher than (let's say) 2-3%. Browsing online I have found a few small firms (e.g., https://securedincomegroup.com) that advertise higher returns than CDs with lower time commitment. I would appreciate if you could share your thoughts when it comes to strategies for long term investing and saving.

Yo, I am not an investment professional, but the industry is not that complicated and hasn't changed much over the past 80 years for LT investing. It depends on your investment horizon, when do you plan on using your funds? for retirement? If it's over 10 years then I would toss them into an diversified aggressive index fund, if you need the cash in less than 10 years, I would keep it in lower risk products like bond funds etc. I would not pay an advisor 1-2% to passively manage your portfolio unless it is very large, over 500k, and plan to use accountants to help minimize capital gains and offset gains/losses each year. Just my 2 cents but nowadays creating your own portfolio is easy, this isn't 1995.
