SPY or E-Mini S&P 500 for entry?

Which index is more accurate for gauging real-time market sentiment before entering a day trade, SPY (ETF) or E-Mini S&P 500 (Futures)?

Is the E-Mini S&P 500 real-time quote even provided by IB or CMEG?

 I don't know if you can trade futures on the Das Trader Platform.

No plans to trade futures.

I’m reading Toni Tuner’s “Beginners Guide To Day Trading Online” (already read Andrew’s books). She recommends keeping an eye on the E-Mini futures contracts for Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 as a way to monitor market sentiment in real-time before making a day trade on stocks.

Due to the volume on these contracts, they may be more sensitive in real-time and useful for scalping/momentum trade entry/exit. Just looking for feedback.

SPY there is no leverage and is not as margin efficient as the ES or SPX. Note though that with ES, each contract you trade will yield +-$12.50 per tick ($0.25).

I would use the ES and NQ futures. They run the whole show in the market. Nasdaq typically reacts and the quickest and most erratic to news etc. There is a datafeed for the e-mini markets in DAS, but you can't trade them from there.
