CMEG Fraud Alert

Recommended Posts

It took two months and alot of work to get my CMEG account finally open and funded. The last two weeks they kept saying it will be done today, which it wasn't. Then I would call back three days later and again they would say it would be done today and it wasn't....

@walidmahmoud CMEG Staff is nice to work with but not worth of my time and effort. That is still in progress as of today. First wire failed due to info not matching from source to destination, second attempt is still in progress(small amount).

Thanks for the info

I just opened a new account with CMEG.  I did get a bit freaked out in the process about getting scammed but everything seems to be A.O.K.  So here is my experience.

6/5  sent application.

6/10 received email that I am approved but on 'Condition'. Additional documents needed within 30 days. Called the number from email and spoke with a customer rep.

6/11 received email warning of phishing scam and instruction that CMEG would NEVER ask for funds via link in an email, ONLY through instructions on website. This was at very top: Please read this email on Phishing before funding your account. And a list of valid email address' were given.

6/11 received 2nd email that provided account details (ID and password and link to download program).  I then logged in, retrieved wire instructions, downloaded app and went to the bank. I use Chase as well. The matching address came up with only inputting the swift code. (that does not prove legitimacy though)  The banker asked me if I was sure it was not a scam. I called same number and spoke with a different rep.

6/12 I emailed the additional documents.  Later, I saw comments in chat about the phishing scam and my bankers voice ringed 'are you sure..' and I emailed BBT mods freaking out. Geez, sorry whoever got that email....

6/13 Logged into CMEG and Viola! the funds were there. Tried logging into platform and got error message "trader is closed". Called CMEG to which they said account was in process of being activated and to try in an hour. Sure enough, an hour later I was in and relieved!!!

The speed at which it progressed, along with all the warnings, is what scared me. I suppose adding that 'I am with BBT and Andrew Aziz' to all my emails had something to do with the efficiency.

F@CK.... I hope I didn't just send 5k to some stranger in Trinidad and Tobago. I logged into what I thought was the secure CMEG portal I have been using to upload documents to get the wire instructions.

Also having problems logging into Account Management and when I tried to reset password, I received an email from CME Lite group<[email protected]>, I did not click the link in that email.

Then I received a phishing email about my apple account.

Been on hold with CMEG customer service 30 minutes now.

EDIT:Just double checked and these instructions are from secure.cmelitegroup.com/funding-info. So I think I'm good.

If you don’t have a mountain to climb, find one.
