I asked DAS. This was the response:

Thank you for contacting us. I am sorry but there were a few modifications done on some of our deals. You are currently being charged $0.0035 per share with $2.95 minimum.

So basically they tripled our papertrading minimum commission without saying a word...

hopefully thats not what IB is actually charging right? DAS just did this for the trading challenge? Part of doing the trading sim challenge was to get a handle on IB fees.

Example 2: $5 each on US stocks. I hesitate to give a more specific answer, nor is it probably needed,  it really depends on a few items like shares, monthly volume, price, but under normal conditions,  you pay 0.005$/share, with their fixed schedule, which probably applies to most. On scaling of that size you will often hit the $1 minimum comm.

I've been reading that tiered is the cheapest but I don't know. @Robert H

  3. Anyone with experience with IB commissions give me a few examples of total cost to get in and out of a trade, scaling? Ballpark would be great.

Example 1 - 1000 shares in $30 stock. Scaling 25% out 3 times and then taking 100% out?

Example 2 - 1000 shares in $30 stock. Stop out, selling 1000 shares.
