All, Canadian here and getting started (slowly) and hopefully successful journey. With regards to Funding IB, is it best to convert the funds to USD or keep it as CAD? Looking to understand pros/cons, fees etc.

I have created a combined Playbook and Trade Planner that may be of use for some fellow members. I use it myself as a kind of cheat sheet to refer to prior to entering a trade. The idea was to store setups / strategies with picture examples in a single file that can reveal that example with the click of a button. An example of a cheat sheet is shown in the picture. In addition to the pictures of setups I have also defined some indicators / rules for each setup which refresh with the setup selection. I define the indicators on the "Strategy_definition" sheet and add pictures in the (hidden) columns on the "Plan" sheet. When a strategy is selected in cell D8 and the button is clicked, it refreshes the table of indicators and unhides a cheat sheet example picture for that setup / strategy. It is a bit slow to refresh. In addition I have added a trade planner table. I enter my intended STOP and entry price and the intended trade direction (Long / Short) and it refreshes the R:R table which provides me with the price levels that would need to be met to deliver a 2R trade and beyond. I like to compare these price levels to support / resistance levels I have marked on the stock and other technical levels and moving averages to assess the potential roadblocks at various prices. In addition I may throw in a rough trade management plan on a simplified level with Partials planned out. I include some other useful info like RVOL, the direction of the overall market etc whilst planning the trade. As a pretty new trader still in SIM I have found this has helped me to be more disciplined / patient. It also helps journal later as it gives an idea of what I was expecting before entering a trade. I just copy a new "Plan" sheet for every new trade and have one file for the trading day with several sheets. The setups I have included are my interpretation of setups mainly from the moderators success webinars. On that basis, take it as a disclaimer to check that you agree with my interpretation and test in SIM if you plan on using this. The file is an excel document and can be accessed via the Google drive link below. It needs to have macros enabled in order for the button to unhide the cheat sheet pictures to work. I have left some blank fields to allow a longer list of setups to be included. Additionally some of the difficulty in reading Lvl 2 and T&S also stems from how fast the info changes and the flashes / changes of the colors in Montague (can be at a dizzying speed for some).....this is my humble opinion only. Generally in my days of software dev and screen design (many moons ago, b4 we had spc UI designers) I used the basic theory tht 90% of population is taught from birth to read LEFT to RIGHT, then TOP to BOTTOM, turning the page (or taking an action. button click or trade) at bottom of page/screen. Based on tht thesis my chart & screen layout is higher TF to lower TF, with 1 min then T&S and then montage, kinda like BBT Jarad, as shown below. NOTE: He only uses of 4 or 5 color bands and his choice of pastels colors (reduces shock of the flashes), all a personal preference, u need to find wht works for ur eyes. also LU and LD r in default white which seems to be system set, so do not use white. Try to focus ur eyes on the T&S toplines reading the cents change and vol size and let ur peripheral vision watch the chart candles to left and montague to the right. Other methods may work just find the one tht works for u. Hopefully the above helps in ur config decision making process.

hi @Stefan Tanev i had this same conversation with another member this week. TWS has some Global settings that will be applied on every chart by default accesible via File Menu in the main windo...... Global Settings >> Charts >> Settings >> Prior close Every single chart u open in the platform has override settings via the View Edit Menu >> Chart Properties ... You will also find there a “Prior close” setting that will only change that chart only ... Double check those 2 and for sure your dashed prev day close level will show up on the chart.... Besides that, @Abiel shared with u a post I update regularly with all the settings, mov avgs, hotkeys, levels etc ... hope that file can help u to setup a starting point with TWS Regards, Paul

100% make sure your funds are in USD. I simply deposit in USD, so there is no conversion necessary on IBs side. They receive it in USD, you trade in USD, there are no fees, and when I pull my money out it just goes straight into my US Dollar savings account in my bank (RBC).
