DAS and IB

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I'm new to the room.

I've been swing trading in Fidelity 401k and doing options (IB Account) both using TOS charting to find my trades for the past 3 years, but not much day trading hardly at all, hence the reason I'm here.

In my IB account, I will have to increase funds for the PDT exemption. Currently I use TOS for charting and make the option trades in IB, and currently not as worried about speed as much as I will be once I start day trading. I'm trying to figure out what is the major benefit for paying on an ongoing basis for DAS? What would be the downside of just trading straight from IB? I've played with IB charting when I first got it some, but that's about it. I don't ever have it opened. I downloaded the free trial of DAS tonight and played with it some, but before I dropped $450 for 3 months, I wanted to get some feedback. Thanks Joe

Joe, from what I've gathered, many people say that DAS is simply faster at executions. People also like the charts. I know there were complaints about IB's Trader Workstation platform not having the proper VWAP indicator, but someone mentioned in the chat yesterday that it has been added/fixed. I can't speak to the execution speed as I've only used DAS as a simulator, so far. I do intend to try IB's platform, though.

I'm ok with paying $150/month for DAS *if* it is better and faster. We will see what it's like once I'm up and running with IB. I know that IB has a simulator, too, so I'll be trying that.

I'd definitely like to hear from others on this, as well.

I can't remember if I have read this or heard this on a video, but is DAS Trader free if you have a funded IB account?

Not that I'm aware of, Amy.

IB's own platform, TWS, is free. DAS costs money whether you go with DAS Trader Pro or one of their re-branded packages, like SureTrader Pro.

Hi folks, I am researching Trading View which supposedly connects with IB and at fraction cost of DAS. Any thoughts. Thank you.

Hi all,  Want to fill you in on a bad experience with DAS trader.

I recently went with das trader pro setup with IB, but after a week of trial, on both sim and real time trading, I found Das was not executing correctly. Sometimes my orders wouldnt even go through with my smartkeys set-up. Other times, duplicate orders would go through instead of a buy canceling out my short position for example.

I dont trust them with my money anymore, and WOULD NOT recommend DAS PRO.

This is the first I've heard of such issues. Have you tried another keyboard? What kind of computer are you using? It's really surprising considering that hundreds--if not thousands--of our members have used DAS hotkeys successfully.

Have you reached out to DAS Support? As a paying subscriber, you are entitled to a 1-hour free session with their Tech Specialist to ensure your system is running smoothly. Best of luck!

I had a similar issue with DAS and hotkeys, but the culprit was a faulty keyboard. Bought a new one, and all is well.

I agree with Gordon and Robert here, with everyone that we have dealt with using Das never heard of something like this unless there was an issue outside of Das like a keyboard or something else malfunctioning. Hope your are able to figure out what it is and let us know what caused it. I am curious to see what was the issue.

Hello, Is DAS really faster than IB TWS?

As a beginner i'm using TWS but most of my trades are filled few ticks up than the price is when I press the hot button.

For exemple, bid/ask price is 49.98/50.00 and my buy hot button is LMT ask + 0.05 (like Andrew), my order will be fill at 50.00 + 0.03 = 50.03 (or 50.05) which make a big difference on quick trades like Andrew does.

Do you guys have notice that ?

Are you in simulator? I found that you will normally get filled at the extremes of your hotkey +/- tolerance. This leads to worst case scenario fills compared to real life execution. @PeterD noticed the same thing.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

No I'm in real.

But I've just changed my button configuration, from ASK LMT STOP +0.05 +0.00 to ASK MKT +0.05.

Do you think those settings are correct?
