Performance Questions

  • What did I do well?
    • I didn't force myself to make goal amount today.
    • When I had platform issues I took off my positions.
  • What could I have done better?
    • Had my platform setup correct, but there's always problems when you come back from a hiatus.
    • Held onto INTC for the day run. (That was when I had platform issues)
    • Got to the computer sooner than 6:16 a.m. and get setup faster so I wasn't rushed at the open.

Psychology Questions

  • What's your performance pressure out of ten?
    ( 0 =  too comfortable; 10 = too anxious)
    • 3
  • Is the current way I am trading going to lead to long term success?
    • Yes, the trading style will lead to the long term success, however I will need to make sure that I am setup to trade sooner than 6:28 a.m.

Performance Questions

  • What did I do well?
    • Not much!  Showed up to the computer.
  • What could I have done better?
    • It is clear that I should not enter in the first minute.  My sample size is large enough to confirm that my intuition during this time is very poor.
      • plus my tight stops work against me during the price discovery.
    • Set my stops immediately after entry.
      • Uncontrolled losses will result if I don't do this mechanically.
    • Get in on a range break.
      • avoid trading intra-range on the 60 minute chart.  (aka be more picky with tickers)

Psychology Questions

  • What's your performance pressure out of ten?
    ( 0 =  too comfortable; 10 = too anxious)
    • 5
  • Is the current way I am trading going to lead to long term success?
    • No, I need to set my stops and let them get hit.

2 hours ago, Fresh Prince said:

I REALLY like how you recapped here and it motivates me to do the same.

I appreciate the feedback.

I try to distill the journaling process into its most basic parts and put all of the lessons from the most recent week into a weekly review.

Otherwise the review process is way too overwhelming to the point of being useless when I look back after several months.

I have found that I don't really like going back through individual trades after a long period of time

because I usually feel I've developed enough since then that I don't want to "taint" my current view of the market with old thinking.

That's why I track generalities of how I'm doing from day to day in order to stay an active participant in my development,

but not so intense that my anxiousness leads me to unnecessarily making adjustments.

The weekly review distills my concerns from one week to the next, so I can clearly distinguish between trading anomalies and recurring issues.

Otherwise I feel too responsible for my results from day to day rather than letting my strategy reveal its viability through frequency

Thanks for reading.

Performance Questions

  • What did I do well?
    • I didn't trade in the first minute.
    • Found a 60 minute hammer that I could get a directional bias from. (PLUG)
  • What could I have done better?
    • Upon reviewing the video I saw that it did not BID over premarket high.
      • I should have only added on minute 3 if this occurred.
      • I should have expanded my 1 minute chart so I didn't accidentally place my stop higher when the chart expanded (as I clicked).
    • I need to keep my stops active until hit (that starts with clicking in the right place when I buy shares).
    • I should not have shorted against that 60 minute hammer.
      • Only when there is just a regular range break should I do this (60 minute range break without a hammer).

Psychology Questions

  • What's your performance pressure out of ten?
    ( 0 =  too comfortable; 10 = too anxious)
    • 6
  • Is the current way I am trading going to lead to long term success?
    • No, my losses have been very high.  I am trading sub par stocks because I am not seeing what I want in the first minute.  ABCD's might be my next step because of this change in performance.

Stayed up doing homework really late.  Will trade on Monday!  It was a discouraging week,

but I derived how Kyle's hotkeys worked to troubleshoot what happened

and I reflected on the main problems this week, which is mainly cancelling my stops and picking poor stocks.

Performance Questions

  • What did I do well?
    • I didn't cancel my stops.
  • What could I have done better?
    • I could have stopped trading after 10 EST.
    • There was a conscience moment I said I should stop trading when I was breakeven, but I continued despite being past the trading window.

    ( 0 =  too comfortable; 10 = too anxious)

  • Is the current way I am trading going to lead to long term success?
    • Yes, but I need to be more selective with my extraneous trades outside of the 60 minute range break strategy.

Performance Questions

  • What did I do well?
    • I didn't cancel my stops.
    • Things also just worked.
    • I waited for the bid to break the 60 minute range instead of the ask.
    • I stopped opening new positions after I clearly had hit goal amount.
    • I let the stocks hit my profit targets before exiting completely.
  • What could I have done better?
    • I could have kept my streaming page minimized the whole time.
    • I made a mistake where I hit 1R stop loss on the short side on accident, so it actually doubled my long position on PTON.

Psychology Questions

  • What's your performance pressure out of ten?
    ( 0 =  too comfortable; 10 = too anxious)
    • 6
  • Is the current way I am trading going to lead to long term success?
    • Yes, there were clear candidates for the strategy today, but I need to make sure I stick to my stops and mechanics on days that the market isn't being cooperative with me.

Performance Questions

  • What did I do well?
    • I didn't cancel my stops.
      • Things actually didn't work today in the beginning.
    • Stopped opening trades when 10:00 EST rolled around.
    • I kept my chat minimized the whole time.
  • What could I have done better?
    • Not traded in the first minute, this cost me 1.6R.
    • Shown up to the computer 10 minutes earlier. (6:10 a.m. PST)

Psychology Questions

  • What's your performance pressure out of ten?
    ( 0 =  too comfortable; 10 = too anxious)
    • 4
  • Is the current way I am trading going to lead to long term success?
    • Yes, but I need to stop trading in the first minute because this costs me the first 1-2R of my total 5R I can risk usually.

I had to turn in a final research paper for Psych 70 last night,

so I somehow slept through two alarms this morning through my tiredness.

Probably was for the best if I was that tired lol.

I saw a nice area to get in on SPCE near the close.

Just took small size to get the day's P&L populated in TraderVue and for PCT.

Performance Questions

    • I didn't cancel my stops.
    • I showed up at 6:05 a.m.
    • I didn't trade in the first minute.
  • What could I have done better?
    • I could have held at least 10% of my CCL position because there was no reason to exit when I did.

  • Is the current way I am trading going to lead to long term success?
    • Yes, however I need to be sure to leave some portion on to these range breaks because that will help me develop my psychology and increase my R:R opportunities as I get better at it.

Performance Question

  • What did I do well?
    • I didn't cancel my stops.
    • I showed up at 5:50 a.m.
    • I reviewed this and saw that the PFE ATR (1) said 0.080, NOT 0.80. The ATR (14) was 0.564, so there was massive room to run. Unfortunately, my text was too small for me to recognize this in real-time. Hopefully, I have resolved this issue in the future.
  • What could I have done better?
    • I could have not entered AMC out of FOMO.
    • I could have not entered XOM because I felt like I deserved to have already made money.
      • If I would have just waited, there would have been another opportunity to the short side (impatience)

Psychology Questions

  • What's your performance pressure out of ten?
    ( 0 =  too comfortable; 10 = too anxious)
    • 7
  • Is the current way I am trading going to lead to long term success?
    • Yes, but I need to cut down on the BAD trades (XOM/AMC) and make sure I am not getting duped by my ATR's text! (I have just increased its text size)
    • I am feeling a little more nervous just because if I mess up on the market's good days, then they will combine with my bad days.
      • However, today's opening range breaks weren't very forgiving or voluminous, so it wasn't exactly the perfect day.
      • In theory, not misinterpreting the ATR study was the ONLY thing that I needed to fix today to have made money.
