  1. IMHO all data is important.  But by way of this thread, I will ask Paras to comment directly as he is an authentic tape reader (demoed in BBT room many times) and is in the process of dev a focused tape reading course for BBT members. @Sultaan aka Paras Jandwani.

During one of his first tape reading sessions in the BBT room he actually presented this observation.   I will let him respond to this here in his own words...I hope he responds.  Floor is open to you Paras.................

  2. They claim to have made adjustments/improvement to it starting today.   I have not been able to confirm if it has an improvement.

A few of the tickers are not as low as before for some tickers but have not made a comprehensive examination inside DAS.

Just closed my account with CMEG. This shuts off my DAS/trading setups.  Not setup to trade at IB  or any prop firms. Have some amazing custom software setups with subscriptions that I will have to shelf.. Ugh (BBT/Trade-Ideas / Tradingview). Best of luck to all the great folks here and there trading.  Keep it GREEN!!

Thks for the heads up..  Wht is the objective of CMEG with this new position ?  Do they want traders to increase the size of the accts ? Is it that they need assets (i.e funds in the traders acct) to justify being a broker ?  Maybe its better they issues a doc with tickers that give the 6:1 margin.

Can u post the doc here ?

However, the question is, for a large float stock, such as AMD, NVDA, etc, the spreads and slippages are so small, if you watch the level 2 book data, they are so "thickly" traded, with very good liquidity.

Tape reading......is just another indicator........the trader uses it, if it fits into ur strategy.   If it does not fit, drop that indicator.

Some traders do not use RSI, others love it.  It boils down to ur style of trading and objectives.

Some traders do not use candle stick charts, only L2 and T&S to trade.

    U need to decide that.

  5. Sorry pls forgive me.......SMB is the initials of SMB Capital a prop firm that trades and has a youtube channel.

The channel teaches an very very basic intro in the SMB concepts., see it here  https://www.youtube.com/user/smbcapital/videos

They have made a few presentation to the BBT community.  Bella and Andrew are friends.

Check it out.  Many many vids including tape reading.   They do not give away the core of the training.

Not sure how advanced u are on tape reading but I wrote some basic stuff here........https://forums.bearbulltraders.com/topic/1916-bookmap-for-learning-level-2-and-ts/?tab=comments#comment-14463  and I point to some of the SMB vids.

do you still use tape reading - I mean do you still watch the level 2 and time & sales data when doing the trading. Does tape reading still make any sense for these large float stocks at all.

For me YES.  Tape reading using the SMB training concepts allows a trader to fine tune an entry and stop placement A trader will watch the inside box and T&S as taught by SMB for best entry. This will improve ur R vs R.

One more thing to add is, you know, the data in the level 2 and time & sale windows is moving so fast for a stock like AMD, and therefore hard to catch and keep track of.

    .

When transactions are moving extremely fast you still watch the inside box but may focus on the colors being displayed in T&S and lowest TF of chart as possible. But I use SMB model of tape reading.

  7. Updates........this could be an opportunity for BBT members if done correctly.........approach SAGICOR for better rates to BBT members.

As stated I saw this coming (see other posts) and it could be good news for BBT clients if the buyers keep the service.  Sagicor is a great financial institution. across the Caribbean.  Now I am not sure they will keep the services which BBT members use...............this still needs to be seen.   If they keep it, the costs could drop and better efficient services could be offered.   It may take some time to onboard all the AIM services into SAGICOR GROUP.

The question is, when search a stock for day trade, do we like a stock that is held by institutions with high percentage or low percentage?

Generally the theory is the higher % held by institutions the more volume will be transacted as Institutions ENTER or EXIT positions of the stock.  Thus a institutions transactions will trend for a few days as the institution positions itself, as large positions take days to be filled to the required investment size of the institutions.

Would a stock with more than 50% held by institutions good for day trading or not?

The higher the better for possible trending

Are  there certain screening criteria - say normally above a certain percentage ( held by institutions ) , then the stock is not good for day trading?

This is subjective and different traders have different % amt.  I like 75%, but have no way to say that this is "right".

Has anyone ever had issues with your DAS platform becoming sluggish or slow while the market is open?  I have the newest update.   I have a decent, self-built desktop computer with good hardware but for some reason, once the market opens and all of my charts and montage start moving, DAS throughout the day, starts to become sluggish and literally everything is slower.  clicking on charts, zooming in and out, everything becomes slower.  However, my computer can still open other programs quickly like Chrome, discord, etc.  So i'm trying to troubleshoot what i'm doing in the DAS platform that might be slowing it down.  Am I saving too many trendlines?? lol   Is there something building up in the memory of the platform that I need to wipe clean?  Please let me know if anyone knows how to fix this or troubleshoot it.  thanks!!

I had this issue some time back.  It showed itself for a couple of days and then  disappeared.   For me I noticed, if I did not shutdown/restart my computer for days it slowed.

So I normally RESTART my system just before I start my morning stock selection process, so I have a "fresh" system.   One other thing I noticed is that the DAS Process does not die when u close the DAS app (only happens on my main trading system.)  DAS dies when app is closed on my 2 laptops.....That's the main reason why I do a RESTART.  U can check if the DAS process is still running after u close the app by looking at the running processes.

After a week of trouble shooting with DAS system programmers we concluded that I had some software installed that was using a version of Windows .NET that was not compatible with .NET version that DAS uses.   The easy solution was to restart ...... I have too much other software to try to figure out which was the offending app.  When i change systems again I will observe as i install each app.

In summary just restart computer and see if that is a solution for u.

  11. I am not sure...........I personally closed my acct with them more than 12 mths ago for other customer service reasons.  I had posted about that in this forum.

If my memory serves me correct from my days in banking i.e. 20+ yrs ago, you cannot have a banking license in Jamaica with a criminal record.   So, if convicted the owners/operators will have to sell the institution (i.e. the customer base) or close it down.   Being the financial "wizards" that they are I am sure they going to try to make as much money off the customers base......and possible some local or oversea financial institution will buy, to make a dollar.

Not sure which direction new shares holders will take the institution.

Andrew has/had an account with them, I think.

  12. Welcome to the group.  I do not like answering a question by asking a question, but eventually I will have to ask a few in this case.

ORB's are thought to be easy bcoz u see and entry signal, the hard part is the STOP placement.  In Ed's Chat Room he has very very specific rules for ENTRY, STOP and TARGETS (i.e. levels).  Not sure if ur STOP was within his rules which is a 5M ATR6.

If u have not been in his room strongly suggest u visit and ask for the link to his 3 recent vids he did while being a BBT Mod.  They explain his 5M ORB specifics in detail and how to read Price Action, PA.   His vids have not been uploaded to education center yet, they will be, but members in the room will share a temp link to them.

So onto the questions: (which I do not like to ask.......as it can be frustrating as a beginner without the right knowledge)

    1. I assume its a 5M ORB, where was the STOP calculated to be ?  Why ?

    2. Did u draw levels ?  Where did u identify these levels ?

    3. What was target ?

    4. Did stock have catalyst ? or u traded with MARKET direction ?

    5. Awesome u STOP-ped out .....if that was part of ur PLAN.   Didi u have a PLAN ?

    6. Not all ORBs work...they do fail.....and u need to understand the PROBABILITIES for success with ur SETUPS.

Look forward to seeing u in Ed's Chat room.

  13.  U know what I have found if u run a desktop and a laptop and need to utilize same DAS layouts/files ensure ur GPU runs same resolution as desktop otherwise u will be resizing chart windows etc when u switch/transfer files between both computers.

Otherwise do not transfer files, jus define each machine with its own DAS layout and populate data in chart window and watch list.

  14. Reviewed ur vid again...........

    1. Did I see "Chart" option create 2 charts ?

    2. Also try.......... Initially create one chart only in DEFAULT tab.  Save the file.  Exit DAS. Restart DAS,  ensure chart windows works in the DEFAULT tab,  then create TAB #2, create Chart Window in TAB #2.  Save and exit DAS.  Restart computer, restart DAS and check.  Observe behavior of DAS then.

These are things I did to understand how DAS works or does not work.  Sometimes DAS does not kill its process also, that is the reason for restarting the computer.

  15. Suggest u send vids to [email protected] and/or [email protected].

When u submit clearly state version of DAS, user name, how u expect the windows to work.  Clear and concise bullet points.

Currently I maximize my chart windows which are in a TAB using the top left of the chart window, with a double click..........BUT, I have chart window borders off...........its where  the red/blue bar is. (Note: in darkmode, which I use,  the red/blue bar does not appear/work............its a bug I live with.....DAS !!!!).  To restore down the chart window, I double click on any clear part of chart window background. (Found that out by accident......lol).  Will code a simple hotkey to use a windows win-restore feature in the future.

It took me  14 mths to configure DAS so I could use ....... I wrote alot of code outside of DAS to manipulate DAS.  U have to play with it for a while, unfortunately, to get it to do what u need.  I still have a few requested urgent bugs/enhancements outstanding which I am waiting on DAS to fix/complete.  Yes I am still paying them monthly.............and cannot really get it working fully.

Happy holidays to u and ur fam.

  16. I use TABS extensively in DAS and have not seen this, BUT I will try to replicate.   I use a mouse buttons to hot switch to multiple TABS on both laptop and desktop.

However,  also in addition to PeterB direction, I suggest u try this.

Open a new TAB, create a new chart window, do not click or highlight, "show on ALL TABS" in chart window config option.

Also use a diff SYMBOL, jus grasping at straws in this part of the instruction.  DAS is not the smoothest app BUT it works most of the time.

    Good luck.
